The significant role for a contemporary control algorithm in the position control of a permanent magnet linear motor (PMLM) system is highlighted by the rigorous standards for accuracy in many modern industrial and robotics applications. A robust predefined time convergent sliding mode controller (PreDSMC) is designed for the high precision position tracking of a permanent magnet linear motor (PMLM) system with external disturbance, and its convergence time is independent of the system’s initial value and model parameters. We verified theoretically that the performance function conditions are satisfied, the motor speed is steady and constrained, and the motor position tracking error converges to zero within the prescribed time. First, we designed a sliding mode (SM) surface with predetermined time convergence, which mathematically demonstrates that the tracking error converges to zero within the predefined time and shows that the position tracking accuracy is higher. Secondly, we developed a PreDSMC law that is independent of initial state and based on the predefined time convergence Lyapunov stability criterion. Finally, to prove the accuracy and higher precision of the proposed PreDSMC, comparative numerical simulations are performed for PMLM with compound disturbances. Simulation findings show that the suggested robust predefined control method considerably reduces the impacts of friction and external disturbances; consequently, it may increase the control performance when compared to the typical proportional integral derivative (PID) controller, the nonsingular fast terminal SMC, and the linear SMC.

To realize the high-performance load torque tracking of an electric dynamic load simulator system with random measurement noises and strong position disturbances, a PD-type iterative learning control (ILC) algorithm with adaptive learning gains is proposed in this paper. With the principle of system analyzing, a nonlinear discrete state-space model is established. The adaptive learning gains is used to suppress the effects of periodic disturbances and random measurement noises on the load torque tracking performance. A traditional PD feedback controller in parallel with the proposed ILC is designed to stabilize the system and render the ILC converge quickly. The convergence analysis of the proposed control method ensures the stability of the system. Compared with the fixed learning gains, the experiment results show that the proposed control method has better load torque tracking performance and can effectively suppress the adverse effects of periodic and aperiodic disturbances on tracking accuracy.

This paper presents a flux-weakening model predictive control (FW-MPC) for the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive system. The FW control is a strategy to extend the IPMSM’s operating region. However, the primary FW needs to track the torque reference and maximize the electrical torque per current amplitude with the current and voltage limitations. The two objects make it impossible to solve the FW problem using the optimization method. We proposed an equivalent optimization problem to simplify the complex FW problem, including two objective functions. The MPC is selected as the controller due to its high robustness and transient performance. The constraints from the equivalent optimization problem are added in the MPC to control the IPMSM in the FW region. The simulation and experiment results indicate that the proposed FW-MPC is feasible and effective in driving the IPMSM in the FW region. The proposed FW-MPC can find the optimal point with the maximum electrical torque satisfying the current and voltage limitations. Therefore, the proposed FW-MPC can extend the IPMSM’s operating region, benefiting the IPMSM’s application.

When the linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) is applied for the voltage-controlled inverter, the discrete period and the measurement noise limits the observer bandwidth, which affects the anti-disturbance performance of the system. This results in a poor ability to deal with the output voltage fluctuation under the load switch. In this paper, a novel LADRC strategy based on the known disturbance compensation is proposed for the voltage-controlled inverters. Firstly, the original LADRC scheme is designed. The dynamic performance and robustness of the system are analyzed by a root locus diagram, and the anti-disturbance ability is studied through amplitude-frequency characteristics. Then the partial model information and the load current are treated as the known disturbance and introduced to the linear extended state observer (LESO) to improve observation accuracy. The difference in anti-disturbance performance with the original scheme is compared and the stability of the LESO and LADRC is analyzed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by the simulation and experimental results.

Due to the volume and weight of the coaxial Blumlein pulse forming line (B-PFL) with liquid energy storage medium are very large and energy storage density is relatively small, a new solid-state coaxial B-PFL is designed for the pulsed power technology in this paper. There are three conductor cylinders in the pulse forming line (PFL): inner cylinder, middle cylinder, and outer cylinder. Ferroelectric ceramics is selected as the energy storage medium which is between the middle cylinder and inner cylinder, and middle cylinder and outer cylinder. The impedance, electric length, parameters such as pulsewidth and its required physical length calculation formula of the PFL is deduced, based on the coaxial cable of the related parameter calculation formula. The formula for determination of relative suitable radius size is obtained. The simulation of electric field of PFL is implemented in the simulation software Ansoft Maxwell, and the results show that the design of the coaxial B-PFL is feasibility. The pulse forming principle has carried on the detailed validation in the simulation software PSPICE, and the results show that the design scheme of PFL is feasible. The application of the PFL can largely reduce the volume and weight of the pulsed power device, and it has a good application prospect.
