Dr. Sudipto Kumar Pal, born on 01.01.1980 at Kotalpur, India obtained his Master's degree in Physics from Burdwan University and Ph.D (Science) from Jadavpur University, and is presently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Departimento di Ingegneria del’Innovazione, Universita del salento, Lecce, Italy. He has expertise in the field of Nanoparticles synthesis, Inorganic-organic hybrid silica coatings, Antibacterial/scratch-resistant/antireflective coatings, Metal doped hybrid dielectric (SiO2/TiO2/ZrO2) coatings, Solar selective absorber coatings, and Photo-catalytically active surfaces and coatings. He is presently working on synthesizing and fabricating photo-catalytically active nano-TiO2 powders and films containing TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) for organic pollutant removal; air purification; odor neutralization, and the preservation of fruits and vegetables from ripening; and Ag/SiO2 hybrid, antibacterial, scratch-resistant coatings on glass and ceramic tiles. His present research work focuses on photocatalytic environmental remediation. He has worked on synthesizing metal/metal-alloy nanoparticles doped inorganic-organic hybrid sol-gel silica films, synthesis of gold nanorods for SERS applications, and preparation and characterization of the transition metal-oxide based solar selective absorber coatings on metal substrates for efficient photothermal conversion of the solar energy. He has published 33 articles in peer-reviewed international journals so far.
