Márcio Ricardo Moura Alves (Márcio Moura-Alves) holds a PhD in Animal Science from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, (2025). His PhD thesis focused on the application of coatings containing plant extracts as a bio-based packaging strategy for preserving chicken meat. Since then, he has developed bio-based and active packaging solutions for meat products as a Research Fellow in the STEMPACK project. He has authored 13 scientific articles (h-index of 6 on Scopus) and supervised two BSc students. He is currently an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
