Social entrepreneurship has recently become a much-desired area of research for academia, practices, and policymaking. Natural or cognitive personal thoughtfulness like loving-kindness meditation (LKM) and compassion trigger individual intentions towards the social entrepreneurial venture. In this process of individual social entrepreneurial intention personality trait plays a very vital role, such as entrepreneurship resilience. For this study, a purposive sampling technique was incorporated and data was collected from 631 business and management sciences students. Data is analyzed by SPSS 23 and for the hypothesis testing, we used the bootstrap analysis of Hayes PROCESS v3.5. This study depicts that LKM has a positive significant impact on compassion and no significant impact on social entrepreneurship intentions while resilience strengthens the direct relationship of compassion with social entrepreneurship and the indirect relationship of LKM with social entrepreneurship via compassion. This study contributes to solving the economic and social problems over the globe especially by boosting the LKM and resilience traits so that the young graduate commence social entrepreneurship. This study helps the academician and policymakers to adopt strategies through which they can encourage youth to indulge in social entrepreneurial ventures solve the social problem and decrease unemployment.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic Universities around the world are taking rapid actions to ensure students learning continuity and secure the well-being of their students. This study aims at exploring the student’s e-learning experience in Jordanian Universities as well as e-learning readiness during the pandemic. While each university is unique, we hope our assessment can provide some insights into how well the student’s e-learning experience was during the pandemic. A structural online questionnaire was distributed, followed by descriptive analysis. Students from remote and disadvantaged areas primarily faced enormous challenges such as technological accessibility, poor internet connectivity, and harsh study environments. This study also highlights the role of electronic commerce in transforming distance learning. Further investments and contingency plans are needed to develop a resilient education system that supports electronic and distance learning throughout Jordan.

This study aims to extend the argument about the association between HRM and Total Quality Management (TQM) in insurance companies in Jordan. It is argued that the consideration of TQM can be supported in terms of configuration as an effect of Human Resource Management (HRM) in the presence or absence of other HRM practices. Data for this study were collected from 24 insurance companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange and 342 employees. PLS-SEM was used to analyze the data collected through path analysis. Structural equation modeling was used to examine a causal relationship between the variables. The overall effect of HRM on TQM was explored to improve quality orientation and people criteria in insurance companies. The findings have indicated a significant and positive effect of teamwork, staffing, performance appraisals, and compensation on TQM. However, training and development have a negative, but significant impact on TQM. In addition, TQM significantly and positively affects the HRM of an organization. Performance was also positively and significantly affected by HRM. TQM is an important factor of HRM in insurance companies. AcknowledgmentThe authors are very thankful to all the associated personnel in any reference that contributed to the purpose of this study.

Promoting the learning environment within Jordanian universities and maximizing the students' academic gain are essential national-level problems. Since learning and teaching systems are main building bricks to grow individuals who are responsible for developing and flourishing culture and civilization for Jordanian society. Educational data mining focuses on developing new smart algorithms devoted to analyzing the resulted data from educational systems; in order to better understand students and the learning environments. In this paper, we are analyzing major factors affecting university students' performance and the effect of social media usage on them. Furthermore, predicting the students' performance by adopting different rule-based data mining algorithms like rule learner based on Repeated Incremental Pruning to Produce Error Reduction (JRIP) and a type of decision tree called (PART). We have conducted a research survey within the University of Jordan students that is covering all faculties and cover a vast range of different students. Using both JRIP and PART we have concluded fundamental remarks; mainly, we have noticed that using YouTube as a learning resource has positive impacts on students' performance especially within scientific faculties. Moreover, we have interpreted the impact of other factors, such as having an Internet connection, having several social media applications and others. Certainly, upon our findings, we recommend the importance of integrating YouTube as a learning resource within universities learning environments.

Mobile computing and the wireless web are likely to become the next major business models following the era of electronic commerce. In particular, rapid growth and the advancement in mobile technologies indicate that mobile commerce (m-commerce) will be the dominant business model in the future. In developing countries, services in mobile commerce are in a phase of rapid growth, yet the relevant research is limited. Thus, to increase the adoption of m-commerce among consumers in developing countries such as Jordan, the current study develops a model of consumers’ intentions to transfer from traditional (internet-based) e-commerce to m-commerce. The proposed model was empirically validated using a total of 451 paper-based questionnaires that were collected from undergraduate students at three private Jordanian universities. The reliability and validity of the structural model were evaluated by performing exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, while the structural model was assessed by employing the structural equation modelling approach. The findings demonstrate that consumers’ intention to shift from traditional e-commerce to m-commerce can be explained by factors related to perceived differences in technology and value. The research model offers useful and insightful information to help practitioners and developers focus their efforts in designing and delivering effective m-commerce applications.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to assess the maturity level of the Jordanian electronic Government (e-Government) program from the citizen’s perspective. This assessment aims to help in determining whether the Jordanian e-Government strategy, set back in 2002, has achieved its main objectives which are delivering services to people across society, irrespective of location, economic status, education or ICT ability; improving the ICT readiness and infrastructure; and developing new service delivery channels and increase the involvement of citizens through the use of ICTs. Jordan started a national e-Government initiative aiming to streamline government procedures and provide government information and services to the public online. This paper reveals the levels of citizens’ awareness, acceptance, usage and willingness to use the e-Government services in Jordan. It investigates issues such as Jordan’s e-Government maturity level, citizen’s preferences when dealing with e-Government, citizen’s attitude toward using various e-services, citizen’s concerns and the required services. Design/methodology/approach – To achieve the research purposes, which needed a high rate of respondents to generalize the findings, we opted for quantitative research through questionnaires as an appropriate instrument base to address the citizens’ awareness and usage of e-Government services. In total, 7,238 distributed surveys were conducted across Jordan. The average of the responses rate in the three regions was 58.6 per cent. Findings – The citizen’s interest in e-Government services is declining, as the citizens’ level of awareness of e-Government and its services is still modest after more than ten years of the start of the e-Government program in Jordan. Citizens’ attitude toward using e-Government services is changing and determined by various factors and issues reported in the paper. Research limitations/implications – The selected governorates might not be the best governorates to represent the three regions of Jordan, the data took almost 15 months to be collected and analyzed which may have resulted in some changes to the reality. Finally, developing countries are not a homogenous group and, therefore, the results of this paper may not be generalizable. Originality/value – The findings present a number of key factors that hinder Jordan’s e-Government development. These findings can be useful for researchers and practitioners, as they provide rich insights on e-Government development. The findings can be also useful to other developing countries, as they can help them in understanding citizen related challenges when designing, planning and implementing their e-Government initiatives.

Government to citizen (G2C) service provision is demanded to fit for purpose for users. A process of finding services from a G2C system involves understanding of the user’s request, selecting the relevant services, and deciding amongst the candidate services to meet the user’s needs. Some current approaches, such as benchmarking methods, are capable of measuring the service quality in the quantitative manner. However, G2C services also have intangible features which can be measured qualitatively. In this chapter, a method is described to model the requirements of G2C services and their provision. To facilitate a service provision process, a set of criteria is identified and used to ensure the quality of the resultant services. An ontology model developed represents requirements of service provision in a web service environment that involves service consumers, service providers, and service advisor. Interactions between these stakeholders are defined by norms which generate workflows for executing the functions in the techniques. An experiment using DEA is carried out in this paper based on quantitative criteria to validate the method and its techniques, i.e. articulates, derives and pre-selects. The pre-selected services as the candidates are further evaluated with the contribution of the qualitative features of the services by using analytical hierarchical process (AHP) to decide for winning services.

Investigating e-government Web-based services and evaluating its development has become one of the evolving research areas in the information systems field. After a decade of launching the e-government program in Jordan, we examined thirty governmental Websites in terms of their accessibility, usability, transparency, and responsiveness to citizens' request. This study found that the majority of the Websites are still in the early stages of development, and there is a noticeable lack in Websites readiness for moving-up to the advanced level fundamental for providing transactional services. Based on the evaluation results and through a manual testing, it was found the majority of the Websites do not employ the same design, where there should be consistent and should be using the same standards and features.
