The coupling between modern electric power physical and cyber systems is deepening. An increasing number of users are gradually participating in power operation and control, engaging in bidirectional interactions with the grid. The evolving new power system is transforming into a highly intelligent socio–cyber–physical system, featuring increasingly intricate and expansive architectures. Demands for stable system operation are becoming more specific and rigorous. The new power system confronts significant challenges in areas like planning, dispatching, and operational maintenance. Hence, this paper aims to comprehensively explore potential synergies among various power system components from multiple viewpoints. It analyzes numerous core elements and key technologies to fully unlock the efficiency of this coupling. Our objective is to establish a solid theoretical foundation and practical strategies for the precise implementation of integrated planning and operation dispatching of source–grid–load–storage systems. Based on this, the paper first delves into the theoretical concepts of source, grid, load, and storage, comprehensively exploring new developments and emerging changes in each domain within the new power system context. Secondly, it summarizes pivotal technologies such as data acquisition, collaborative planning, and security measures, while presenting reasonable prospects for their future advancement. Finally, the paper extensively discusses the immense value and potential applications of the integrated planning and operation dispatching concept in source–grid–load–storage systems. This includes its assistance in regards to large-scale engineering projects such as extreme disaster management, facilitating green energy development in desertification regions, and promoting the construction of zero-carbon parks.

Wireless power transfer (WPT)-based voltage equalizers (VEs) are desired for flexible and secure balanced charging of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). However, the existing WPT-based VEs fail to balance the cells once the onboard receiver (Rx) is away from the transmitter (Tx), and the efficiency and capacity are limited. This article proposes a reconfigurable WPT-based multiport hybrid charging approach to achieve UAV’s cell string balancing under multiple states. By converging one Tx port, one Rx bidirectional port, and two voltage-balance (Vx) driving ports, the approach enables the source-to-cell (STC) and pack-to-cell (PTC) charging/balancing, which achieves cell balancing during charging, discharging, and standing conditions. Circuit analyses of the corresponding topology validate its operating principles and basic performance. Efficiency and capacity in the STC balance mode are improved with the combined Rx and Vx output ports. The cell’s voltage equivalation can still be realized without Tx in the PTC balance mode. Asymmetric Tx and Rx coils and orthogonal Vx coils integrated into Rx are designed with specific coupling or decoupling as the multiport WPT coupler to enable the charging and balancing with a robust misalignment tolerance. An experimental prototype for eight cells is established, and the test results demonstrate the effectiveness of this scheme.

Harmonic resonances exist inherently in power systems with varying affected areas and amplification levels. This paper presents a quantitative harmonic resonance assessment technique with sensitivity analysis under uncertainty to reveal the affected areas of a harmonic resonance and corresponding amplification severities at different buses. Resonance amplification conditions at the harmonic source bus (localized resonance) and non-harmonic-source bus (non-localized resonance) are distinguished respectively, and then a novel index to quantify the harmonic propagation areas and corresponding amplification severities are established based on harmonic electrical distances. Apart from local sensitivity analysis (SA), a global SA method is further used to per-form the sensitivity analysis of system uncertain parameters and three types of sensitivity parameters are distinguished and defined. In addition, comparative analysis of the proposed method with existing harmonic resonance analysis methods shows that the proposed method not only can provide more information for harmonic resonance analysis and control but also is easy and practical.

Power transmission networks play an important role in smart girds. Fast and accurate faulty-equipment identification is critical for fault diagnosis of power systems; however, it is rather difficult due to uncertain and incomplete fault alarm messages in fault events. This paper proposes a new fault diagnosis method of transmission networks in the framework of membrane computing. We first propose a class of spiking neural P systems with self-updating rules (srSNPS) considering biological apoptosis mechanism and its self-updating matrix reasoning algorithm. The srSNPS, for the first time, effectively unitizes the attribute reduction ability of rough sets and the apoptosis mechanism of biological neurons in a P system, where the apoptosis algorithm for condition neurons is devised to delete redundant information in fault messages. This simplifies the complexity of the srSNPS model and allows us to deal with the uncertainty and incompleteness of fault information in an objective way without using historical statistics and expertise. Then, the srSNPS-based fault diagnosis method is proposed. It is composed of the transmission network partition, the SNPS model establishment, the pulse value correction and computing, and the protection device behavior evaluation, where the first two components can be finished before failures to save diagnosis time. Finally, case studies based on the IEEE 14- and IEEE 118-bus systems verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.
