With the development of the Internet, cyber-attacks are changing rapidly and the cyber security situation is not optimistic. This survey report describes key literature surveys on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods for network analysis of intrusion detection and provides a brief tutorial description of each ML / DL method. Papers representing each method were indexed, read, and summarized based on their temporal or thermal correlations. Because data are so important in ML / DL methods, we describe some of the commonly used network datasets used in ML / DL, discuss the challenges of using ML / DL for cybersecurity and provide suggestions for research directions.

The use of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-based sensors for strain–strain applications is showcased in this paper. Extensive use of MWCNTs has been done for the fabrication and implementation of flexible sensors due to their enhanced electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. These nanotubes have been deployed both in pure and composite forms for obtaining highly efficient sensors in terms of sensitivity, robustness, and longevity. Among the wide range of applications that MWCNTs have been exploited for, strain-sensing has been one of the most popular ones due to the high mechanical flexibility of these carbon allotropes. The MWCNT-based sensors have been able to deduce a broad spectrum of macro- and micro-scaled tensions through structural changes. This paper highlights some of the well-approved conjugations of MWCNTs with different kinds of polymers and other conductive nanomaterials to form the electrodes of the strain sensors. It also underlines some of the measures that can be taken in the future to improve the quality of these MWCNT-based sensors for strain-related applications.

A hyperspectral imaging system to measure and analyze the reflectance spectra of the human tongue with high spatial resolution is proposed for tongue tumor detection. To achieve fast and accurate performance for detecting tongue tumors, reflectance data were collected using spectral acousto-optic tunable filters and a spectral adapter, and sparse representation was used for the data analysis algorithm. Based on the tumor image database, a recognition rate of 96.5% was achieved. The experimental results show that hyperspectral imaging for tongue tumor diagnosis, together with the spectroscopic classification method provide a new approach for the noninvasive computer-aided diagnosis of tongue tumors.

White blood cell (WBC) segmentation, which is important for cytometry, is a challenging issue because of the morphological diversity of WBCs and the complex and uncertain background of blood smear images. This paper proposes a novel method for the nucleus and cytoplasm segmentation of WBCs for cytometry. A color adjustment step was also introduced before segmentation. Color space decomposition and k-means clustering were combined for segmentation. A database including 300 microscopic blood smear images were used to evaluate the performance of our method. The proposed segmentation method achieves 95.7% and 91.3% overall accuracy for nucleus segmentation and cytoplasm segmentation, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can segment WBCs effectively with high accuracy.

Biometric systems have been actively emerging in various industries in the past few years and continue to provide higher-security features for access control systems. Many types of unimodal biometric systems have been developed. However, these systems are only capable of providing low- to midrange security features. Thus, for higher-security features, the combination of two or more unimodal biometrics (multiple modalities) is required. In this paper, we propose a multimodal biometric system for person recognition using face, fingerprint and finger vein images. Addressing this problem, we propose an efficient matching algorithm that is based on secondary calculation of the Fisher vector (FV) and uses three biometric modalities: face, fingerprint and finger vein. The three modalities are combined and fusion is performed at the feature level. Furthermore, based on the method of feature fusion, the paper studies the fake feature which appears in the practical scene. The liveness detection is append to the system, detect the picture is real or fake based on DCT, then remove the fake picture to reduce the influence of accuracy rate, and increase the robust of system. The experimental results showed that the designed framework can achieve an excellent recognition rate and provide higher security than a unimodal biometric-based system, which are very important for a IoMT platform.
