Florence Abravanel holds a PharmD and a PhD and specializes in medical biology. She has worked in the Virology Department of the Toulouse University Hospital, with Prof. Jacques Izopet, since 2003. Her primary research interest is the genetic variability of hepatitis viruses. She has contributed to several studies on hepatitis E virus, especially the description of chronic forms of HEV infection in organ-transplant recipients.
