Rocío Redón was born in Mexico City in 1969. In 1993, she obtained her BSc in Chemistry at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and she was awarded her PhD from the same University in 2002. During her PhD studies, she had the opportunity of working in different Chemistry Groups: in England, with Prof. J. R. Dilworth, in 1997 and 1998; in Spain, with Prof. Ana Albeniz at Valladolid University, in 1998; in USA, at Hawaii University with Prof. Craig Jensen, from 1998 to 2001. Finally, she obtained a Post-doctoral position in the “Laboratorio de Materiales y Nanotecnología, ICAT” at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where she currently works on the synthesis and characterization of metal nanomaterials, studying their potential catalytic and biological properties.
