Recently, federated learning (FL) has become a promising distributed learning paradigm that caters to the recent trend of pushing intelligence from the cloud to the edge. Nevertheless, communication bottlenecks and device dropout can lead to inefficient FL in the large network scale, where massive devices cannot be accessed with severely limited network resources. Inspired by the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC), we propose the multi-UAV assisted FL design to provide the intermediate model aggregation in the sky. Specifically, we study the problem of joint UAV dePloyment and edge aSsociation (UPS) to minimize the overall energy consumption, which concerns UAV deployment, edge association, and resource allocation. Unfortunately, solving this problem is non-trivial, due to its infinite search space and the complex coupling among mixed optimization variables. To tackle this difficulty, we exploit the FL bundle generation method to reduce candidate locations of UAVs from infinite to finite. Then, we decompose the initial problem and devise an alternating optimization-based algorithm to achieve the optimal resource allocation in the closed form. On this basis, we design a greedy-based approximation algorithm with logN performance guarantee for UAV deployment and edge association. Extensive simulations are conducted to validate the effectiveness of our proposed solution. Compared with five benchmarks, our proposed algorithm can significantly reduce the overall training energy consumption under the training time constraint, while always maintaining better training performance under different parameter settings.

Small UAV target detection plays an important role in maintaining the security of cities and citizens. UAV targets have the characteristics of low-altitude flights, slow speeds, and miniaturization. Taking these characteristics into account, we present a real-time UAV target detection algorithm called Fast-YOLOv4 based on edge computing. By adopting Fast-YOLOv4 in the edge computing platform NVIDIA Jetson Nano, intelligent analysis can be performed on the video to realize the fast detection of UAV targets. However, the current iteration of the edge-embedded detection algorithm has low accuracy and poor real-time performance. To solve these problems, this paper introduces the lightweight networks MobileNetV3, Multiscale-PANet, and soft-merge to improve YOLOv4, thus obtaining the Fast-YOLOv4 model. The backbone of the model uses depth-wise separable convolution and an inverse residual structure to simplify the network’s structure and to improve its detection speed. The neck of the model adds a scale fusion branch to improve the feature extraction ability and strengthen small-scale target detection. Then, the predicted boxes filtering algorithm uses the soft-merge function to replace the traditionally used NMS (non-maximum suppression). Soft-merge can improve the model’s detection accuracy by fusing the information of predicted boxes. Finally, the experimental results show that the mAP (mean average precision) and FPS (frames per second) of Fast-YOLOv4 reach 90.62% and 54 f/s, respectively, in the workstation. In the NVIDIA Jetson Nano platform, the FPS of Fast-YOLOv4 is 2.5 times that of YOLOv4. This improved model performance meets the requirements for real-time detection and thus has theoretical significance and application value.

To discover relationships and associations rapidly in large-scale datasets, we propose a cross-platform tool for the rapid computation of the maximal information coefficient based on parallel computing methods. Through parallel processing, the provided tool can effectively analyze large-scale biological datasets with a markedly reduced computing time. The experimental results show that the proposed tool is notably fast, and is able to perform an all-pairs analysis of a large biological dataset using a normal computer. Few-Shot learning (FSL) is a new deep learning method, which has been successfully applied in many fields, but has not been well explored in the field of communication. To adapt to the application scenario of signal modulation recognition when only a small number of samples of new types of signals can be collected, a novel FSL algorithm based on a new multi-channel feature fusion network named FFFNet is proposed in this paper. Specifically, the time sequence signals firstly are preprocessed into time-frequency and constellation diagrams which are enhanced by the reciprocal attenuation model. Then, a multi-channel feature extraction network is designed to generate prototypes by extracting and integrating the multi-modal features. The modulation type of the sample to be tested can be obtained by measuring the distance between it with the prototypes. Simulation results prove the proposed algorithm can effectively identify the modulation type of new signal categories just with a demand of few samples due to its strong generalization and robustness ability.

As a key component of the space-air-ground integrated network (SAGIN), low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites aim to provide global coverage and reliable services under high-speed mobile conditions, which are critically challenged by severe Doppler effect and inherent broadcast security threats. To address these issues, this paper investigates a multi-reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) downlink transmission system, where a LEO satellite serves multiple information receivers and potential eavesdroppers acting as energy receivers via simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT). By jointly optimizing multi-dimensional resource variables, such as transmit beamforming and RIS reflection coefficients of the spatial domain, and the symbol scheduling matrix of the time-frequency domain, this paper aims to maximize the sum secrecy rate while satisfying constraints on satellite transmit power, the legitimate users’ quality of service, and energy-harvesting requirements. Given the high-dimensional, non-convex, and NP-hard nature of this problem, we develop an enhanced actor-critic deep reinforcement learning (DRL) framework. The core innovation lies in designing an episodic return-prioritized experience selection mechanism with online mixing, which significantly improves the sampling efficiency and policy stability by intelligently selecting training data. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms existing schemes in achieving a higher sum secrecy rate, providing a practical and highly efficient resource scheduling solution for building secure and reliable next-generation SAGIN.

Radio frequency fingerprint identification (RFFI) has become a crucial technology in physical layer authentication, and plays an important role in authenticating the identities of wireless communication devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). Although open-set recognition has been applied in RFFI tasks, these schemes still demand extensive RF signal samples. In this article, few-shot open-set recognition is being dedicated to exploring in RFFI tasks. To surmount mentioned challenges, we propose meta-learning by Gaussian prototype network (MLGPN) scheme to achieve the goal of few-shot open-set recognition. MLGPN adopts the Mahalanobis distance between the embedding feature and the Gaussian prototype as its metric. With the introduction of open-set loss function, the proposed scheme shows excellent open-set recognition performance. It is worth mentioning that meta-learning not only satisfies the demands of few-shot scenarios, but also enables new devices to join and leave without the need for retraining. Experiments conducted based on real LoRa RF signals confirmed the excellent performance of our proposed scheme for few-shot open-set recognition which surpasses traditional prototypical network model by 5.3% of area under curve and 6.7% of ACC under the 1-shot condition. Compared with other schemes, the proposed scheme also demonstrated significant advantages.
