Yan Lin is a professor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Nankai University. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in environmental engineering from Tsinghua University in 2004 and 2006, respectively. He received his PhD in analytical and environmental chemistry from the University of Oslo in 2011. He worked as a researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) (2011–2023). He joined the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Nankai University as a professor in 2020. His research areas include environmental transport simulation and ecological risk assessments of pollutants. His main research area is to simulate the transport and migration of plastic waste, organic pollutants, and nutrients
at the watershed scale using watershed pollutant transport models (mechanistic models and statistical models). At the same time, he also provides technical support for the negotiation and implementation of international environmental conventions, such as the Minamata Convention, the Stockholm Convention, and the Plastics Convention. He was selected for the National Youth Talent Program and the Nankai University Hundred Young Discipline Leaders Training Program. He has presided over/participated in many scientific research projects, including the Sino-Norwegian cooperation projects funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Natural Science Foundation projects and key R&D projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
