Seeking to reduce the number of inconsistencies in their processes, many organisations choose to implement the ISO 9001:2015 quality management standard. Their aim is to improve operational performance while, at the same time, they cope with increased pressures from the market to present innovative products and solutions and from the stakeholders to implement new organizational methods. This work intends to investigate how organisations can leverage ISO 9001:2015 in implementing the ISO 56002:2019 innovation management standard, given that both standards have a high degree of compatibility with each other. For that purpose, meetings were held with senior managers and quality managers of three Portuguese SMEs to discuss the existing potential challenges and gaps in the integration of both management systems. The results point to the existence of a significant set of practices in the field of quality that can support and facilitate the formalization of integrated management systems. Nevertheless, generalization of the results should be avoided, and more research is needed, since the integration of management systems is often conditioned by cost and time related issues. Furthermore, it is disputable whether a company can simultaneously reach a high level of efficiency (brought about by implementing a quality management system) and a high level of innovation (made possible by the implementation of an innovation management system) thus jeopardizing the implementation of an integrated management system.

Despite the growth of female entrepreneurship over the last decade, research in this area is still at an embryonic stage. Its development is essential to understand how this phenomenon can be leveraged, allowing to achieve a more inclusive and developed society. Social media platforms have been recognized as a relevant tool in promoting female entrepreneurship, but studies in this area are still limited. Through a bibliometric analysis combined with a literature review, this study concluded that the studies published in this area essentially focus on one of three perspectives: a business creation perspective, a business strategy and performance perspective, and a women's empowerment perspective. Moreover, articles analysed used a diverse range of research methodologies and focused mainly on developing countries. Therefore, future research should include different research perspectives, as well as the analysis of different economic and social contexts to better understand the phenomenon of female entrepreneurship

This chapter focuses the challenges of repatriation. Although corporate expatriation has been receiving attention, this chapter seeks to complement this perspective embracing the analysis of the repatriation process. As such, the aim of this chapter is to broaden the knowledge on repatriation exploring previous studies. For this, the authors answer two research questions: Why is the process of expatriation regarded as more relevant than the repatriation process? What do MNEs need to improve to assure a good repatriation process? Regarding the first question, most of repatriation processes are seen by MNEs as the final stage of expatriation which makes companies pay less attention to repatriation as an independent process. Moreover, companies tend to care more with the short-term results of the expatriation experience than the long-term ones, so MNEs disregard the importance of the experience acquired by the repatriate. Regarding the second research question, one concludes that there are four main dimensions: manager feedback; manager network; human resources department and companies.

Currently, organisations must view their intangible assets from a strategic perspective and ensure they can develop intellectual capital to integrate knowledge into their day-to-day management as part of their intangible assets. This strategic perspective leads to using international assignees as knowledge facilitators who can help develop intellectual capital. However, managing knowledge from international assignments to create intellectual capital is often complicated, and the literature pleads for more research on the topic. Therefore, through a systematic literature review, this study aims to overview the state of the art regarding knowledge and intellectual capital management in the context of international assignments to develop a new conceptual model in the field. This study answers the gap in the literature regarding a model that analyses how international assignments influence knowledge management and the creation of intellectual capital in organisations. The main findings suggest that research needs to focus on developing a system to manage knowledge and intellectual capital in the context of international assignments to ensure competitive advantage. The main limitation of this study is the use of only two databases. Further studies should implement the same research procedure using other databases to achieve a broader understanding. In addition, future research needs to focus on developing measurement models of knowledge and IC management for organisations.
