In our study, we developed a system to reduce both energy consumption and pollutant discharge during the drying process. We present a new technology, a stationary bed grain-drying test device based on the internal circulation of the drying medium (ICODM). A rice-drying experiment was carried out inside of it, and the influences of air temperature (AT) and air velocity (AV) on the energy and exergy efficiencies (EEE) as well as the improvement potential rate (IPR) and the sustainability index (SI) of the rice-drying process were studied. The following conclusions were obtained: when the rice was dried at a temperature of below 55 °C and an AV across the grain layer of 0.5 m/s, the average EEE during the drying process was 48.27–72.17% and 40.27–71.07%, respectively, demonstrating an increasing trend as the drying medium temperature increased. When the rice was dried using an AV across the grain layer in the range of 0.33–0.5 m/s and a temperature of 40 °C, the two values were 39.79–73.9% and 49.66–71.04%, respectively, demonstrating a decreasing trend as the drying medium flow velocity increased. IPR and SI were 4.1–8.5 J/s and 1.9–2.7, respectively, at a drying temperature of 30–55 °C and an AV of 0.33–0.5 m/s. These conclusions can provide helpful guidance for the optimization and control of the rice-drying process in terms of saving energy.

The traditional detection of blueberry maturity relies on human experience, which is inefficient and highly subjective. Although deep learning methods have improved accuracy, they require large models and complex computations, making real-time deployment on resource-constrained edge devices difficult. To address these issues, a GLL-YOLO method based on the YOLOv8 network is proposed to deal with problems such as fruit occlusion and complex backgrounds in mature blueberry detection. This approach utilizes the GhostNetV2 network as the backbone. The LIMC module is suggested to substitute the original C2f module. Meanwhile, a Lightweight Shared Convolution Detection Head (LSCD) module is designed to build the GLL-YOLO model. This model can accurately detect blueberries at three different maturity stages: unripe, semi-ripe, and ripe. It significantly reduces the number of model parameters and floating-point operations while maintaining high accuracy. Experimental results show that GLL-YOLO outperforms the original YOLOv8 model in terms of accuracy, with mAP improvements of 4.29%, 1.67%, and 1.39% for unripe, semi-ripe, and ripe blueberries, reaching 94.51%, 91.72%, and 93.32%, respectively. Compared to the original model, GLL-YOLO improved the accuracy, recall rate, and mAP by 2.3%, 5.9%, and 1%, respectively. Meanwhile, GLL-YOLO reduces parameters, FLOPs, and model size by 50%, 39%, and 46.7%, respectively, while maintaining accuracy. This method has the advantages of a small model size, high accuracy, and good detection performance, providing reliable support for intelligent blueberry harvesting.

The implementation of scientific cultivation practices on soda saline–alkali land plays a pivotal role in safeguarding food security and promoting sustainable agro-economic development at the regional scale. However, there exists a critical knowledge gap regarding the optimization of tillage strategies for rain-fed maize (Zea mays L.) cultivation across heterogeneous saline–alkali soil matrices. This study selected meadow alkaline soil, saline meadow soil, and mild saline–alkali soil under the typical micro-landscape morphological characteristics of soda saline–alkali soil in the Songnen Plain as experimental plots. Under three tillage methods, namely no tillage (NT), rotary tillage + no tillage (RT), and subsoiling + rotary tillage + no tillage (SRT), the effects of the tillage methods on the soil physical properties at the seedling stage, root development at the V6 stage, and yield at the R6 stage during the process of cultivating maize in different types of soils were analyzed. The research results showed that compared with NT and RT, the SRT treatment better improved the physical properties, such as penetration resistance and the bulk density in micro-spaces (0–40 cm), of different soil types. The SRT treatment had a positive impact on the root development of maize seedlings in saline meadow soil and meadow alkaline soil. In terms of yield, compared with the NT treatment, the SRT treatment in meadow alkaline soil and saline meadow soil had a positive effect on the plant height, root dry weight, 1000–grain weight, and grain yield of maize. The increases in maize grain yield were 27.94% and 13.24%, respectively. Compared with NT, the differences in the effects of the SRT and RT treatments on maize yield in mild saline-alkali soil were the smallest, being 6.98% and 4.77%, respectively. The relevant results provide guidance on tillage methods and a theoretical basis for improving the properties of different types of soda saline–alkali soils and increasing maize yield.

Exhaust air recycling is a simple and commonly used technique to save energy when using a dryer. The fixed-bed drying test device with increased efficiency by condensation is a clean and energy-saving drying test device developed by combining exhaust air recycling and condensation dehumidification technology. In this paper, through comparisons with or without exhaust air circulation using the single factor test of drying process parameters and the response surface test of corn drying on this test device to investigate the energy-saving effect and drying characteristics resulting from the novel drying method of increased efficiency by condensation. We drew the following main conclusions: (1) increased efficiency drying by condensation resulted in an energy savings of 32–56% compared with the conventional open hot air drying; and (2) during the increased efficiency corn drying by condensation, the mean energy and exergy efficiencies were within 31.65–51.26% and 41.69–63.52%, respectively, when the air temperature was in the 30–55 °C range, and they were 24.96–65.28% and 30.40–84.90%, respectively, when the air passed through the grain layer at 0.2–0.6 m/s; both of these increased with increasing air temperature, and decreased with increasing air velocity. These conclusions may constitute an important reference for investigating the energy-saving drying process of increased efficiency by condensation and developing relevant energy-saving drying equipment.

Given the lack of accurate and reliable discrete element simulation parameters to study the interactions between soft soil and soil casting components after ginseng land cultivation in Northeast China and the design of ginseng land-specific borders, this paper calibrates the relevant model parameters of ginseng soil using the Hertz–Mindlin with JKR contact model in EDEM to standardize the contact parameters between soil particles and between soil and Q235 steel in soft soil after cultivation in ginseng land. Taking the soil particle accumulation angle as the response value, a Box–Behnken design (BBD) was introduced to establish a regression model for the soil accumulation angle; the surface energy, static friction coefficient, rolling friction coefficient, and coefficient of restoration parameters were obtained, respectively, through the optimization of the model, at which time, the simulated value of the soil accumulation angle was 37°, which is a 4% relative error to the actual measured accumulation angle of 35.5°. Taking the sliding friction angle of the soil on the Q235 steel plate as the response value, the regression model of the soil sliding friction angle was obtained based on the BBD. The static friction factor, rolling friction factor, and coefficient of restitution between the soil particles and the Q235 steel were obtained, respectively. Based on the combination of these parameters, the simulated value of the sliding friction angle was 32.2°, which is a 2% relative error to the measured accumulation angle of 31.5°. To verify the accuracy of the optimized simulation parameters, field and simulation tests of soil-throwing components were conducted. The results show that the maximum relative error between the measured value and the simulation value is 5.6% and 3.4%. The error is within an acceptable range, and the simulation test and field test soil-throwing effects are the same, which verifies the accuracy and reliability of the reference soil parameter calibration. The results of the study can be used for discrete element simulation analysis of the interaction between ginseng loam and touchdown components and their structural optimization.
