Surfactants are extremely common organic compounds that enter the environment in large quantities in the form of household and industrial wastewater. The toxicity of surfactants for biological systems, the high concentration of substances and the duration of the bioremediation process of polluted ecosystems requires improving the biotechnology of microbial wastewater treatment for surfactants. The purpose of this work is to study the kinetic laws of the reaction of the biological decomposition of betaine surfactants. Pseudomonas bacteria were used as bio-destructors of the surfactants. Kinetic data were obtained to create the possibility of further optimization of research on the biodegradation of toxic organic substances. The strains that were promising destructors of cocamidopropylbetaine were selected. The toxicity of high concentrations of surfactants in relation to microorganisms of the genus Pseudomonas was proven. Safe values of the surfactant concentration for conducting biodegradation tests were found. A kinetic model of the biodestructive process was constructed. It proves that the processes of biodegradation are described by a kinetic equation of the first order. With the derived equation, it is possible to determine the time interval of biodegradation of cocamidopropylbetaine to the specified values by means of mathematical calculations.
Biodegradation is a sustainable and efficient method for removing organic pollutants from the aquatic environment. We studied the biological purification of aqueous solutions from betaine organic matter under the action of bacterial strains of the genus Pseudomonas and determined the rate of decomposition in the presence of chloride ions and heavy metal cations. The bacteria showed lower activity in the presence of salts of heavy metals and performed more efficiently in the presence of chloride ions. Almost complete degradation of organic matter was observed on the 21st day. Thus, these strains of microorganisms can be used as decomposers of organic betaine compounds.
The sources of the major pollutants in quarry wastewater are investigated for Kuznetsk Basin coal mines. Various methods of removing those pollutants are a

The antiproliferative ability of synthesized platinum (II) binuclear complexes with amino acids (glycine, alanine, and valine) was investigated. The ability was studied against two tumor cell lines of lymphoma L1210 and mastocytoma P815. Cytotoxic activity of the complex increases with an increase in the length of the amino acid radical. The binuclear complex of platinum with valine suppresses the proliferative activity of tumor cells of both lines without dose dependence. At a dose of 0.5 mu g/ml, the cytotoxic effect of the complex with valine in relation to lymphoma cells L1210 is comparable to cisplatin, in relation to mastocytoma cells P815 is reduced by 1.8 times. Complex compounds of platinum with glycine and alanine exhibit biological activity, but have a weak effect on the suppression of the growth of tumor cells of both lines. Synchronous thermal analysis of mono-and binuclear complexes is carried out. The thermal decomposition of the complexes occurs in the temperature range from 200 to 550 degrees C and is accompanied by exothermic effects, in contrast to free amino acids, for which endothermic effects are observed. The enthalpy of exoeffects for binuclear complexes of platinum (II) with amino acids lies in the range from 1463 to 2645 J/g. The introduction of the aliphatic part into the amino acid leads to smoothing of the exothermic peaks for the complexes. The difference in the value of the enthalpy of exothermic effects for binuclear and mononuclear platinum (II) complexes decreases with the growth of the amino acid ligand chain. For monomeric Pt (II) complex compounds with two N-coordinated amino acids, the enthalpy of the exothermic effects does not differ significantly and lies in the range of 3335-3586 J/g.
By extracting bioactive compounds from plant materials, scientists study their chemical composition, biological activity, and potential applications. Plant extracts can be used in functional foods and as additives that improve the quality and safety of products. New extraction methods offer sustainable and efficient technologies. This research featured maceration, ultrasonic extraction, microwave extraction, solvent extraction under pressure, and supercritical fluid extraction, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. The method of supercritical CO2 extraction made it possible to obtain target components from amaranth seeds. The input variables included the degree of fractionation and operating pressure while the temperature was a constant parameter. The degree of fractionation proved to be the key factor for the yield: the lower the fractionation, the higher the extract yield. A higher pressure increased the yield in the case of low particle dispersion. At 300 atm, the extract yield was lower for fractions of 0.31–0.56 and 0.16–0.31 mm than at 200 atm. The total extract yield ranged from 10.00 ± 0.20 to 18.20 ± 0.20% at 100 atm, from 10.54 ± 0.20 to 19.45 ± 0.20% at 200 atm, and from 11.64 ± 0.20 to 16.31 ± 0.20% at 300 atm. The amaranth extract demonstrated good prospects as an additive to vegetable oils, spreads, and cheeses.
