Manuel Ferre (Senior Member, IEEE) received a Laurea degree in control engineering and electronics and a Ph.D. degree in automation and robotics from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), in 1992 and 1997, respectively. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Human-Machine System Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is currently a Full Professor with UPM. He has participated and coordinated several research projects in robotics and automatic control in national and international programs. His research interests include automatic control, advanced telerobotics, exoskeletons, and haptics. He has four patents for haptic devices and stereoscopic video cameras. He is the author of more than 150 publications and an Editor of the Springer Series on Touch and Haptic Systems. He is a member of the EuroHaptics Society, euRobotics, and CEA. He has served as the Chair of several committees for national and international societies.
