Margarita Dimitrova Popova is a Professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria, where she heads the Laboratory of Organic Reactions on Microporous Materials. She obtained her PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1998 and her Doctor of Science degree in 2021. Her research interests include the synthesis and characterization of nanoporous materials, heterogeneous catalysis, biomass valorization, CO₂ capture and catalytic conversion, and the development of functional materials for environmental, energy-related, and biomedical applications. She has authored or co-authored numerous scientific publications in the fields of catalysis, porous materials, drug delivery, and nanomaterials. She is the Bulgarian representative in the European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCATS).
