This research reports a four-port multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna designed for 5G-NR band applications including n77: 3.30–4.20 GHz, n78: 3.30–3.80 GHz, and n79: 4.40–5.00 GHz. The proposed design is analyzed in two parts, one single-element asymmetrical fed Calendula flower-shaped antenna and the other four-port modified MIMO antenna with the connected ground. The evolution of the MIMO antenna is studied based on the characteristics and optimized single-element antenna. The measured 5G-NR bandwidth offers a very high matching of impedance for MIMO configuration and higher isolation in the same band. The MIMO antenna offers an average peak gain of 3.51 dBi with a radiation efficiency of more than 90%. The radiation patterns plotted at 3.51, 4.00, 4.50, and 5.00 GHz match with almost omni-directional and dipole patterns in H- and E-radiating planes respectively. The MIMO antenna also records good diversity performance (ECC, DG, CCL, MEG, and TARC) in n77, n78, and n79 5G bands.

This paper reports a 4 × 4 and 8 × 8 MIMO antenna configuration on FR4 substrate occupying the area of 1.43λo × 1.43λo mm2 (f = 3.58 GHz) and 2.14λo × 2.14λo mm2 (f = 3.50 GHz). The proposed design is exclusively developed for 5G: n77/n78 wireless band applications. The MIMO antenna comprises of Lotus-shaped radiating element with DGS (defected-ground-structure) in-ground and the addition of slits providing boresight radiation. All the radiating elements are placed orthogonally in a 4 × 4 configuration while pairs of antennas are also placed in the same fashion for 8 × 8 MIMO antenna configuration. The high isolation of more than 16 dB is achieved by using a novel decoupling structure in the ground. Also, the MIMO antenna are characterized with diversity performance including ECC, DG, TARC, CCL and MEG achieving permissible values of <0.005, ∼10 dB, <0 dB, <0.10b/s/Hz and ∼ −3 dB respectively. The peak gain corresponds to 4.51 and 5.02 dBi with radiation efficiency of more than 80% for 4 × 4/8 × 8 MIMO antenna configuration. The proposed antenna also offers desired 2D radiation patterns in principal planes.

In this paper, small printed urn-shape triple notch ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with diverse wireless applications is presented. Notch bands include WiMAX (IEEE802.16 3.30–3.80GHz), WLAN IEEE802.11a/h/j/n (5.15–5.35GHz, 5.25–5.35GHz, 5.47–5.725GHz, 5.725–5.825GHz), and X-band downlink satellite system (7.25–7.75GHz) and other multiple wireless services as close range radar (8–12GHz) in X-band & satellite communication (12–18GHz) in Ku-band. By including T-shape stub and etching two C-shaped slots on the radiating patch, triple band-notch function is obtained with measured high band rejection (VSWR=16.54 at 3.60GHz, VSWR=22.35 at 5.64GHz and VSWR=6.38 at 7.64GHz) and covers a wide useable fractional bandwidth of 154.56% (2.49–19.41GHz). In short the antenna offers triple band-notch UWB systems as a compact multifunctional antenna to reduce the number of antennas installed in wireless devices for accessing multiple wireless networks with wide radiation pattern
