To improve the consumption of renewable energy and to meet complex load demands. A model of a multi-terminal flexible DC distribution network with multiple overhead branch lines is constructed. Aiming at frequent non-permanent faults of overhead lines, a fast pilot protection scheme is proposed to cover the whole fault process. Using the hybrid DC circuit breaker (HDCCB) action as the boundary mark, the fast pilot protection can be divided into two phases: post-fault and fault restart. The first phase highlights rapidity, sending a trip command to HDCCB within 1-2 ms after the fault. The second stage emphasizes reliability, and points out that the data of the whole fault process should be fully utilized, and to fully excavate the characteristics of fault current. A multi-time scale and multi-criteria fusion protection scheme is proposed, which can effectively improve the reliability of fault area identification. Finally, a corresponding model was built based on PSCAD, a large number of simulation tests and robustness analysis proved that the proposed fast pilot protection scheme is feasible.
At present, the small resistance to ground system (SRGS) is mainly protected by fixed-time zero-sequence overcurrent protection, but its ability to detect transition resistance is only about 100 Ω, which is unable to detect single-phase high resistance grounding fault (SPHIF). This paper analyzes the zero-sequence characteristics of SPHIF for SRGS and proposes a SPHIF feeder detection method that uses the current–voltage phase difference. The proposed method is as follows: first, the zero-sequence current phase of each feeder is calculated. Second, the phase voltage root mean square (RMS) value is used to determine the fault phase and obtain its initial phase as the reference value. The introduction of the initial phase of the fault phase voltage can highlight the fault characteristics and improve the sensitivity and reliability of feeder detection, and then CVPD is the difference between each feeder ZSC phase and the reference value. Finally, the magnitude of CVPD is judged. If the CVPD of a particular feeder meets the condition, the feeder is detected as the faulted feeder. Combining the theoretical and practical constraints, the specific adjustment principle and feeder detection logic are given. A large number of simulations show that the proposed method can be successfully detected under the conditions of 5000 Ω transition resistance, –1 dB noise interference, and 40% data missing. Compared with existing methods, the proposed method uses phase voltages that are easy to measure to construct SPHIF feeder detection criteria, without adding additional measurement and communication devices, and can quickly achieve local isolation of SPHIF with better sensitivity, reliability, and immunity to interference.
Capacitive voltage transformer (CVT) transient transform characteristics destroy the linear relationship between output voltage and input voltage, leading to a sharp increase in measurement error. To address this issue, this article proposed an indirect method to design an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter to suppress the voltage oscillation amplitude caused by the CVT transient transformation characteristics. The method derives the CVT transfer function using the cascade form. Determining the compensating reactor frequency response curve, the intermediate transformer frequency response curve, and the oscillatory components below 50 Hz caused by ferromagnetic resonance as the design targets, IIR filters were designed to suppress the voltage oscillation amplitude. The proposed method’s effectiveness is verified by simulation in suppressing the voltage oscillation amplitude when transient response and ferromagnetic resonance occur. The simulation results show that the output voltage amplitude can be suppressed below 0.5 V after 0.48 s in the transient response, and the voltage oscillation amplitude caused by ferromagnetic resonance can be suppressed well under different short-circuit durations. This method also reduces the output voltage oscillation time and improves the CVT voltage measurement accuracy.
