Prof. Jian Wang is a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and
Materials Engineering, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. He earned
his BS in Engineering Mechanics (1994) and MS in Solid Mechanics (1996) from
Xi’an Jiaotong University. He completed his PhD studies in Mechanical
Engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA (2006). He
spent nine years at Los Alamos National Laboratory, with experience as a
scientist and postdoctoral researcher. He has won the TMS Materials Processing
& Manufacturing Division Distinguished Scientist/Engineer Award (2022) and
was a TMS Brimacombe Medalist (2023). His research interests include multi-scale
materials modeling, interface mechanics and engineering, fabrication, the
mechanics of nanostructured materials and nucleation, evolution and the role
of defects in solids.
