Florin Marius Botis is an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Transylvania University of Brasov. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Faculty of Engineering and Management of Technological Systems of the Politehnica University in Bucharest in 1993. He also graduated with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Transylvania University of Brasov in 2007. He obtained a PhD in the field of mechanical engineering in 2004 with a doctoral thesis entitled "Structural and Shape Optimization of Parts with Complex Configurations Based on Strength and Rigidity Criteria". In the Department of Civil Engineering, Assoc. prof. Florin Marius Botis teaches the following disciplines: strength of materials, dynamics of structures, and earthquake engineering. His main research areas of interest are: vibration absorbers of TMD and TLCD types used in civil buildings; the elastic stability of structures; the isolation of bases for civil structures; and numerical methods based on classical and heuristic algorithms with applications in the mechanics of deformable solids.
