Music genre classification has a significant role in information retrieval for the organization of growing collections of music. It is challenging to classify music with reliable accuracy. Many methods have utilized handcrafted features to identify unique patterns but are still unable to determine the original music characteristics. Comparatively, music classification using deep learning models has been shown to be dynamic and effective. Among the many neural networks, the combination of a convolutional neural network (CNN) and variants of a recurrent neural network (RNN) has not been significantly considered. Additionally, addressing the flaws in the particular neural network classification model, this paper proposes a hybrid architecture of CNN and variants of RNN such as long short-term memory (LSTM), Bi-LSTM, gated recurrent unit (GRU), and Bi-GRU. We also compared the performance based on Mel-spectrogram and Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) features. Empirically, the proposed hybrid architecture of CNN and Bi-GRU using Mel-spectrogram achieved the best accuracy at 89.30%, whereas the hybridization of CNN and LSTM using MFCC achieved the best accuracy at 76.40%.

Clean air is necessary for leading a healthy life. Many respiratory illnesses have their root in the poor quality of air across regions. Due to the tremendous impact of air quality on people’s lives, it is essential to devise a mechanism through which air pollutants (PM2.5, NOx, COx, SOx) can be forecasted. However, forecasting air quality and its pollutants is complicated as air quality depends on several factors such as weather, vehicular, and power plant emissions. This aim of this research was to find the impact of weather on PM2.5 concentrations and to forecast the daily and hourly PM2.5 concentration for the next 30 days and 72 h in Pakistan. This forecasting was done through state-of-the-art deep learning and machine learning models such as FbProphet, LSTM, and LSTM encoder–decoder. This research also successfully forecasted the proposed daily and hourly PM2.5 concentration. The LSTM encoder–decoder had the best performance and successfully forecasted PM2.5 concentration with a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 28.2%, 15.07%, and 42.1% daily, and 11.75%, 9.5%, and 7.4% hourly for different cities in Pakistan. This research proves that a data-driven approach is essential for resolving air pollution in Pakistan.

Breast cancer includes genetic and environmental factors and is the most prevalent malignancy in women contributing to the pathogenesis and progression of cancer. Breast cancer prognosis metastasizes towards bones, the liver, brain, and lungs, and is the main cause of death in patients. Furthermore, the selection of features and classification is significant in microarray data analysis, which suffers from huge time consumption. To address these issues, this research uniquely integrates machine learning and microarrays to identify secondary breast cancer in vital organs. This work firstly imputes the missing values using K-nearest neighbors and improves the recursive feature elimination with cross-validation (RFECV) using the random forest method. Secondly, the class imbalance is handled by employing K-means synthetic object oversampling technique (SMOTE) to balance minority class and prevent noise. We successfully identified the 16 most essential Entrez gene ids responsible for predicting metastatic locations in the bones, brain, liver, and lungs. Extensive experiments are conducted on NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus GSE14020 and GSE54323 datasets. The proposed methods have handled class imbalance, prevented noise, and appropriately reduced time consumption. Reliable results were obtained on four classification models: decision tree; K-nearest neighbors; random forest; and support vector machine. Results are presented having considered confusion matrices, accuracy, ROC-AUC and PR-AUC, and F1-score.
