Kangmin Niu is a Distinguished Chair Professor (at the national level) at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), in charge of the Composite Structure Engineering Center. He started his aerospace engineering career in 1984 after obtaining his M.Eng. in Materials Science at the Institute of Aeronautical Materials, Beijing (BIAM). He obtained his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering at Georgia Tech, USA. His technical fields are the mechanical behavior of materials and structural modeling. He was a Fellow Engineer at Siemens with main responsibilities in modeling and living technology of composites supporting gas turbine projects. He also worked as a Sr. Structural Scientist in The Boeing Company. As a structure focal of airplane-level models, he oversaw and guided composite and metal structure design and analysis of 777X and 787 aircraft.
