Kun Mean HOU held a PhD degree in 1984 and a HDR degree in 1996 in Computer Science from the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), France. He worked as associate professor at UTC from 1984 to 1986. From 1989 to 1996, he created a research group, which investigated parallel architecture dedicated to real-time image processing at the laboratory HEUDIASYC UMR 6599 CNRS at UTC.
In 1997, he joined the college of engineering school ISIMA of University Clermont Auvergne as full professor, where he created the SMIR team of the laboratory LIMOS UMR 6158 CNRS (10 researchers), focusing on the development of core technologies: basic hardware and software dedicated to wireless sensor networks or the IoT. He holds six patents, two APPs and he has participated in three EU projects and 20 technology transfers as scientific leader. He has published more than 140 papers in journals and at internal conferences. He is serving in several scientific committees and boards. He served as Associate Editor of the IEEE Access Journal from 2019 to 2021.
