Carla Villa earned her MS in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology (1994) from the University of Genoa and a PhD in Science and Development of Cosmetic Products (1997). She is now a professor of cosmetic products in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Genova. Her work in the field of sustainable processes and products for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications has resulted in over 50 publications and numerous international presentations, lectures, and courses. She was the CEO and founder of ACCADERMICA SRL, a spin-off of the University of Genova. She is a founding member of the editorial board of Cosmetics (MDPI), a member of the topical advisory panel of Gels (MDPI), and a member of the executive board of SICC (Società Italiana di Chimica e Scienze Cosmetologiche). She chaired the Scientific Inter-University Committee of the 25th IFSCC (International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists) World Conference in 2019. Her research interests include green extractions from botanical matrices and agrifood waste, microwave-mediated procedures, green chemistry, and pharmaceutical and cosmetic technologies.
