Decision making is a significant responsibility for business managers, their decisions impacting business performance. Managers are therefore interested in acquiring and implementing reliable methods for making decisions both now and in the future. Currently, in the countries in the Albanian-speaking regions of the Western Balkans, intuitive decision-making methods predominate. In order to find appropriate methods for assessing and prioritizing goals, new approaches to decision making should be adopted. Various methods have been developed for multi-criteria decision making. One of these is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method—a method which should receive more attention than it has up to now. We would like to show that the AHP method could be of great use in decision making. Through a case study, this paper explores the AHP, a method with three levels in which the identification of decision-making criteria is based on the perceptions of managers and consumers. The paper’s findings offer an important guide for managers to improve decision making and enhance performance in competitive markets.

Digital skills play a central role in the ongoing transformation of tourism and hospitality. This study analyzes several issues, such as the structure of digital competencies and workforce segmentation, within the tourism sector in Albania areas where empirical evidence remains scarce. The motivation for inclusion in this study focuses on the void between advanced technologies and the skills gap, while identifying opportunities for change in this direction. The quantitative design considers a sample composed of owners, managers, and operational staff. Data analysis includes descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, heatmap visualization, cluster analysis, and workforce segmentation. The data processing reveals that while foundational digital literacy is well-evidenced, a significant gap exists in advanced analytical competencies and emerging technologies. The findings regarding workforce segmentation into three distinct groups: Digital Pioneers, Functional Users, and Digital Laggards are of high importance. Equally significant are the findings concerning disparities in digital maturity across sectors. Sectoral analysis reveals higher advanced digital skill levels in accommodation and destination management, while food and beverage businesses show lower digital proficiency. This study contributes by providing an empirical framework that links digital skill structures, workforce segmentation, and sectoral differences, offering evidence-based insights for targeted digital upskilling in tourism and hospitality. The findings highlight the need for differentiated digital training strategies tailored to workforce segments, organizational roles, and tourism subsectors.

As sustainability becomes central to tourism, tourists are no longer passive consumers but active stakeholders who influence organizational behavior. This study investigates how green consumer behavior (GCB) shapes expectations for employee green competencies and organizational sustainability strategy (OSS). Data were collected through a structured survey of 326 domestic tourists in Albania. Green skills expectation (GSE) was modeled as a latent construct derived from two observed variables: green loyalty and brand image, and willingness to support sustainability. Statistical analyses included exploratory factor analysis (EFA), K-means clustering and structural equation modeling (SEM). GCB significantly predicted both OSS and GSE, confirming that green tourists influence how organizations structure and communicate their sustainability practices. Cluster analysis identified two consumer profiles: committed eco-tourists and green-adaptive tourists. This study advances current understanding of how tourists act as external agents of internal organizational change. It extends the theoretical discourse on green marketing and sustainable workforce development by positioning tourist expectations as a driver of human resource transformation. The findings offer meaningful implications for tourism operators, educators and policymakers seeking to align employee training and service delivery with the demands of sustainability-oriented travelers. In this way, the study bridges the gap between consumer behavior and workforce development, contributing to a more integrated approach to sustainable tourism.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is the presentation of creation and development of entrepreneurship by giving evidence on the influence of determining factors. In this context, the issues of this study can serve as motivation for young people to believe in their personal abilities and engage in entrepreneurial activities to influence economic growth in the country. Design/Method/Approach: The study considers the previous studies for the entrepreneurship/ The paper focus is a business-case study/ Business activity is analyzed in some aspects based on data collected through questionnaires. Findings: Some of the most important findings are an entrepreneur’s personality characteristics, his previous experience in the relevant field, the prominent initiative and high level of risk taking, his open-mindedness, the entrepreneur takes care of creation and preservation of business reputation under the slogan: Family, work, and satisfaction as important conditions for the establishment of good human relationships. Theoretical Implications: From the theoretical point of view, the paper evidences the fact that entrepreneurship is a study field relatively new. Therefore, every study is important because they increase the number of theoretical studies in this field which is multidisciplinary. Practical Implications: The paper reflects the successful path of an entrepreneur who, despite some hardships, realizes an individual vision and fills in the needs he sees in society bringing new products or services into the marketplace. Originality/Value: The paper analyzes the birth, growth and development of a concrete enterprise in given conditions, and this emphasizes the deeply original character of the study. Research Limitations/Future Research: The paper analyzes a concrete case, and it constitutes a limitation. However, it refers to a certain period of time, concretely the post-dictatorial period, with worsened macroeconomic parameters, which should be considered by future researchers. The change of the socio-economic development strategy in Albania was reflected in the environment that creates opportunities and responsive perspectives for human resources with a long-term outlook. Engaging in long-term productive economies is a risky occupation. The risk is conditioned by time, individual effort, available information and space. This paper is based on the results generated from surveying the occupation of one of the most successful enterprises that started its activity in the first years of the change of the socio-economic system. Through a case study, the paper also discusses theoretical problems of entrepreneurship over the years, as well as possible methods of managing an enterprise. In conclusion, it shows how individuals who are creative and motivated to find new ways to enter a market are the main support to business success. Paper type: Empirical

The rapid development of tourism in recent years opens study perspectives of various dimensions. One of these dimensions is culinary tourism. This paper is an attempt to present, find and discuss from a theoretical and practical point of view some of the problems of culinary tourism, focused on treating the Cheese Road as a specific direction of culinary tourism. The paper offers new knowledge on the cheese road referred to a certain area, specifically in the district of Gjirokastra, which has outstanding tourist values. The analysis proved that cooking is a direction with significant priorities for the development of tourism. Empirical data collected from terrain through the questionnaire were processed using descriptive statistics. The analysis of the data evidenced the interest of the inhabitants of the area for the cheese road. The paper will also bring real obstacles to the development of the cheese route.

The paper looks into the problems of managing a supply chain well, focusing on the first step: choosing suppliers based on certain criteria. As a value creator, this part of the supply chain has to deal with a number of problems that need to be handled professionally. The study looks at how well current supply chain practices work. A literature review looks at the problems that supply chain management has to deal with. In this case, a lot of scientific articles have been looked at for a long time. Interviews with managers of active businesses have shown that the current way of judging suppliers is based on the personal experiences of the people on the evaluation group or team. The main reason for this research is the current way of judging suppliers and the need to make it better. The data is based on a business case study. We used the AHP method to look at the data. This method makes it possible to standardize the evaluation of the four preferred criteria. AHP helps people make choices that make sense, which makes it a good way to predict how well a business will do in general and in the supply chain. The findings show that Albania needs more research on its supply chains. The results suggest the importance of using analytical methods in managerial decision-making, especially the AHP method, as a prerequisite for satisfactory performance. Fuzzy logic and the AHP method have been used together to make decisions that are more debatable. The paper gives managers more information about why they need to use better ways to choose suppliers.
