Dr. Massimo Capoccia is a Senior Aortic Fellow at South Yorkshire Cardiothoracic Centre, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Milan, Italy followed by completion of specialist training in Cardiac Surgery in Varese, Italy. He has developed his wide range of skills in different hospitals in the UK.  He holds an M.D. from the University of Liverpool, an M.Sc. in Medical Engineering from the University of Leeds and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. He is an experienced cardiac surgeon with a broad background in general cardiac surgery and a specific interest in aortic surgery. He has also a special interest in the surgical treatment of patients with advanced heart failure requiring mechanical circulatory support. He is actively involved in cardiovascular engineering research.
