Prof. Dr. Valdir Florêncio da Veiga Jr is a Full Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Military Institute of Engineering (IME) in Rio de Janeiro, where he leads the Advanced Bioprocesses in Natural Products Chemistry Research Group (ABC-NP). He holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a Master's and PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry of UFRJ, a Post-Doctorate in Natural Products Chemistry from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) and a Senior Internship in Green Chemistry and Sustainability at the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York, in York, UK. He is the Deputy Coordinator of the Chemistry area at Capes, a CNPq Level 1 Research Productivity scholarship holder, a FAPERJ Scientist of Our State scholarship holder, a member of the Brazilian Chemical Society since 1992, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK). He was named by Stanford/Scopus research in 2021, 2022, and 2023 as one of the 50 most influential chemistry researchers in the country in relation to his entire career. He works on the development of advanced organic processes for the generation of bioproducts from biodiversity resources.
