Information

Current Position: Full Professor in Chemistry at Universidade de Vigo. Background: PhD in Chemistry at UAM (1989) and Postdoctoral/Invited stays (1990/1991/1992) in Sensor-Chip Lab. (NMSU, USA) with Professor Dr. Wang, performing advanced biosensor research. Achievements: co-author of >70 peer reviewed research papers, 1 patent and 7 book chapters; co-editor of 1 book; >10 invited talks at conferences; supervisor of 5 PhD thesis (+2 in progress) and >20 reserchers/students in mobility programs; collaboration on design of several device commercialized by Metrohm-DropSens. Membership in Professional Societies: American Chemical Society (ACS), Divisions Anal. Chem. & Agric. and Food Chem; Spanish Society of Analytica Chemistry (Sociedad Española de Química Analítica, SEQA); Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (Real Sociedad Española de Química, RSEQ); Government Team (vocal) of the RSEQ-Territorial Section of Galicia. Current research interest: analytical chemistry methodology, typically electroanalytical techniques, and biochemistry approaches to resolve problems in food, clinical, and environmental analysis, using biosensors and chemical sensors devices. A number of others analytical techniques, including UV/Visible, Fluorescence and HPLC, are also used. At the moment, her work focuses in pollutants detection and monitoring related methodologies to reduce contamination by electro-Fenton and phytoremediation.
