Dr. Muhammad Faheem received his BS in Biotechnology from the University of Peshawar and completed his M.Phil at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. During his graduate studies, he developed a strong interest in molecular and structural biology, leading to research on gene cloning and protein structural modeling of Hepatitis C virus and human proteins for drug design. He later moved to Brazil on a fully funded PhD scholarship to join Dr. João Alexandre’s structural biology group at the Catholic University of Brasília, where he solved protein structures using X-ray crystallography and other biophysical techniques, focusing on novel bacterial and viral proteins. During his PhD, he also held a fellowship at Diamond Light Source (UK), working on fragment-based drug discovery and identifying lead fragments against a Schistosoma mansoni protein. After completing his PhD, he conducted postdoctoral research at EMBRAPA Biotechnology, Brazil, on therapeutic protein production in plants and plant defense proteins. In 2018, he joined the National University of Medical Sciences, Pakistan, as an Associate Professor working on drug discovery and vaccine design. He later moved to the University of North Dakota, USA, to work on drug and vaccine development for respiratory syncytial virus. In 2024, he joined the Mayo Clinic, USA, as Assistant Professor of Medicine, where he studies pancreatic enzymes as drug targets in pancreatitis and focuses on recombinant pr
