Digitalisation is shaping the contemporary technological context of entrepreneurial activities, where firms grow through interacting with digital ecosystem stakeholders. This study investigates how incumbent firms seek entrepreneurial growth by re-configurating their knowledge bases in digital business ecosystems. We propose and develop a conceptual framework that blends the digital business ecosystem perspective and the knowledge-based view of the firm. Through a longitudinal case study of a Chinese textile manufacturing firm, we identify three pathways for entrepreneurial growth. The results contribute to the entrepreneurship literature by demonstrating how digital technologies foster corporate entrepreneurship in incumbent firms. The proposed framework extends the analytical power of the knowledge-based view by incorporating ecosystem elements into the firm’s internal and external knowledge management. The findings also generate relevant and actionable managerial implications for entrepreneurs, managers, and policymakers that are applicable in the context of digital business ecosystems.

Along with the constant changes in the current business environment, more and more enterprises have recognised the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Considering that profit maximisation is the eternal pursuit of enterprises and that some studies have already linked the financial performance of enterprises and their implementation of social responsibility together, this study will try to further explore the impact of social responsibility initiatives on enterprises’ financial performance within the context of emerging economy. Given that enterprises’ sustainable development is closely related to their implementation of CSR, an improvement in their corresponding financial performance due to effective social responsibility practices can incentivise enterprises to take part in CSR initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainable development of society and the environment. Through using the panel data from Chinese Listed Companies, this research finds that responsibility’s implementation is positively related with enterprises’ financial performance, and that relationship is non-linear. Additionally, as a critical regulatory institution, government fails to function as a mediator within the above-mentioned relationship based on the robust empirical test. At the same time, the fulfilment of CSR can not be achieved at the expense of profit maximisation. The non-linear relationship between CSR and enterprises’ financial performance (CFP) demonstrated in this research suggests that the financial performance of a firm can be optimised when it moderately fulfils its social responsibility. This finding offers a potential optimal strategy for the sustainable development of the firm as well as society. Also, the role of government deserves further exploration and utilisation, considering its significant linkages with enterprises and social development.
This paper develops a structured method from the perspective of value to organise and optimise the business processes of a product servitised supply chain (PSSC). This method integrates the modelling tool of e3value with the associated value measurement, evaluation and analysis techniques. It enables visualisation, modelling and optimisation of the business processes of a PSSC. At the same time, the value co-creation and potential contribution to an organisation’s profitability can also be enhanced. The findings not only facilitate organisations that are attempting to adopt servitisation by helping avert any paradox, but also help a servitised organisation to identify the key business processes and clarify their influences to supply chain operations.
Business processes change over time in response to changing circumstances, it is crucial for process managers to discover and understand such changes from event logs. While existing techniques in process mining cannot efficiently detect and locate concept drifts in uncompleted event logs. Hence, an appropriate method, which could prompt to unravel the process evolution, may greatly assist organizations to manage the flexibility and change of business processes in the context of business process management (BMP). In this paper, we first proposed an extensible feature and employed it with the sliding window technique and heuristic miner for detecting and locating concept drifts in uncompleted event logs. Then, Genetic Process Mining (GPM) was improved by the Weight Heuristic Miner (WHM) and Differential Evolution (DE) for mining the new process model of an evolving process. Finally, experimental results on four event logs which are created based on a real-world business process have validated the proposed method.
