Dr Michail Karypidis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Creative Design and Clothing at the International Hellenic University. His academic journey spans textile science, sustainable materials, and fashion technology, reflecting both theoretical expertise and practical industry experience. He holds a B.Sc. Honours in Textile Science & Technology/Chemistry, a PhD in Textile Technology, and an MBA. His research focused on the effects of softening agents on textile wear properties, with the intention of prolonging serviceable product life, enhancing sustainability, and improving material processing. With nearly 25 years of combined academic and professional experience, he brings substantial expertise to textile engineering, fabric quality, sustainable textile technologies, and garment production optimisation. His research interests encompass sustainable fashion solutions, antimicrobial textile coatings, natural dyes, sewability analysis, and textile effluent treatment. He has actively contributed to research projects examining innovative approaches in textile production, 3D garment technology, and sustainable material development. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, including Coatings, has reviewed articles in several issues, and has contributed book chapters on sustainable fashion.
