Many synthetic compounds have been applied to impart antimicrobial properties to fabrics. In this review, the types of bacteria are described. Furthermore, synthetic antimicrobial agents, namely quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), triclosan, and nitrogen-halamines (N-halamines), are discussed along with their properties, their advantages and disadvantages. Although synthetic antimicrobial agents neutralise microorganisms, some adversely affect the environment, safety and health. These problems led to a novel generation of antimicrobial coating treatments on textiles, such as copper nanoparticles (CNPs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) formed on plant extracts, chitosan and green synthesis, with a lower environmental impact but unaltered premium antimicrobial performance and improved durability.

Social media is experiencing unprecedented success in terms of usage levels. They cause significant changes in the way people connect and communicate with each other, in the way they express themselves and share ideas, and even in the way they engage with products, brands, and organizations/companies. This research attempts to answer the following useful questions, all by examining the fashion industry and its presence on social media. To what extent does social media influence consumer purchasing behavior? Which social media is used the most? To what extent do so-called influencers influence purchasing decisions? How powerful and decisive is electronic word of mouth (eWOM) in influencing a consumer either positively or negatively? The conclusions will be drawn from the secondary research conducted.

The aim of this chapter is to analyze brand names and their potential impact on consumer behavior when making luxury fashion purchases. Secondary research was carried out to investigate this issue by analyzing the results of older and modern studies available in foreign language bibliography. The theoretical issue of brand management in luxury fashion marketing was examined in the first section. According to the literature review, brand building is a demanding process that requires the consideration of many critical parameters. A thorough understanding of the target audience and a commitment to maintaining the brand's exclusivity, quality, and popularity are necessary for luxury marketing and branding. Creating a strong emotional connection is a priority for the strategy's focus on brand name factors. After that, we will talk about consumer behavior and the most significant trends in the luxury fashion market for affluent consumers.

One of the main causes of water pollution is the textile industry, which involves dyeing and finishing processes. Aquatic life and human health can be threatened by the variety of chemicals and dyes contained in the effluent generated by these processes. The impact of these effluents on the environment has been minimized by the development of several effluent treatments. This presentation discloses the available solutions for liquid effluent treatment from textile dyeing and finishing providing a fast, clear, and deep understanding of methods such as the physicochemical and biological treatments as well as the recent advanced oxidation processes. Thus, utilizing a combination of these technologies in a treatment plant can frequently lead to more effective outcomes. Ultimately, this investigation will assist researchers and academic practitioners in enhancing and aligning green marketing models with sustainability trends in the textile, apparel, and fashion industries.

This chapter tries to provide an overview of the latest trends and patterns of slow fashion consumption in the affluent market. Slow fashion consumption in affluent markets reflects a growing shift towards ethical, sustainable, and intentional purchasing habits, driven by increased awareness of environmental and social issues. It involves prioritizing quality over quantity, supporting ethical production practices, and embracing a mindful approach to wardrobe duration. Affluent consumers are motivated by the desire to align their purchasing behaviors with personal values of sustainability, ethical responsibility, and conscious living. While affluent consumers are well-positioned to adopt slow fashion due to higher disposable incomes, the movement also faces challenges. The high cost of sustainable fashion can limit accessibility, even within wealthy markets.

Sewability is the ability of the fabric to be sewn without faults and represents the ease of fabric processing at a satisfactory level. It can be used to predict problems which may occur in the garment sewing stage and it can be accurately measured using the L&M sewability tester as a function of that needle penetration force though the fabric. Sewability is attributed to fabric properties, pretreatment, finishing, sewing conditions and mishandling. Fabric softeners affect the ease of sewing processing of garments, which is mostly reflected by the needle penetration force. The current work was driven by previous study focused on the analysis of factors affecting the sewability of cellulosic woven fabrics of a wide range of designs and constructions, where the influence of several fabric properties on the needle penetration force had been investigated, revealing the existence of a relationship between the inherent properties of mass per square metre, breaking strength and bending length. However, the in-depth statistical analysis had shown that rigid structures follow a different trend in comparison to the light ones. In the current work, thin and light structured fabrics were excluded from the investigation and focus was given exclusively to the rigid structures of higher mass per square metre fabrics which are known to be problematic in sewing stage. Although the investigation was confined to the main three inherent properties which had proven to influence needle penetration, it included fabric treatments of washing and softening on the samples. Results show an increase in the interdependency of the studied properties while treatments show a minimal effect probably to low level of application.
