Biometric security is a growing trend, as it supports the authentication of persons using confidential biometric data. Most of the transmitted data in multimedia systems are susceptible to attacks, which affect the security of these systems. Biometric systems provide sufficient protection and privacy for users. The recently-introduced cancellable biometric recognition systems have not been investigated in the presence of different types of attacks. In addition, they have not been studied on different and large biometric datasets. Another point that deserves consideration is the hardware implementation of cancellable biometric recognition systems. This paper presents a suggested hybrid cancellable biometric recognition system based on a 3D chaotic cryptosystem. The rationale behind the utilization of the 3D chaotic cryptosystem is to guarantee strong encryption of biometric templates, and hence enhance the security and privacy of users. The suggested cryptosystem adds significant permutation and diffusion to the encrypted biometric templates. We introduce some sort of attack analysis in this paper to prove the robustness of the proposed cryptosystem against attacks. In addition, a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation of the proposed system is introduced. The obtained results with the proposed cryptosystem are compared with those of the traditional encryption schemes, such as Double Random Phase Encoding (DRPE) to reveal superiority, and hence high recognition performance of the proposed cancellable biometric recognition system. The obtained results prove that the proposed cryptosystem enhances the security and leads to better efficiency of the cancellable biometric recognition system in the presence of different types of attacks.

In this paper, a new classification approach of breast cancer based on Fully Convolutional Networks (FCNs) and Beta Wavelet Autoencoder (BWAE) is presented. FCN, as a powerful image segmentation model, is used to extract the relevant information from mammography images. It will identify the relevant zones to model while WAE is used to model the extracted information for these zones. In fact, WAE has proven its superiority to the majority of the features extraction approaches. The fusion of these two techniques have improved the feature extraction phase and this by keeping and modeling only the relevant and useful features for the identification and description of breast masses. The experimental results showed the effectiveness of our proposed method which has given very encouraging results in comparison with the states of the art approaches on the same mammographic image base. A precision rate of 94% for benign and 93% for malignant was achieved with a recall rate of 92% for benign and 95% for malignant. For the normal case, we were able to reach a rate of 100%.

Recently, with the availability of fast and reliable Internet, the distance between a patient and a doctor is becoming unimportant. Physicians will be able to request the medical images of their patients regardless of the geographical area. However, a lot of challenges face such successful implementation. To facilitate remote diagnosis, patient electronic medical record (EMR), including medical images, that originates in one system needs to be exchanged either within the same organization or across different organizations. Steganography is the practice of concealing a secret message inside a cover medium. In this paper, steganography will be used to embed the patient’s personal information securely and imperceptibly in their medical images to enhance confidentiality in case of a distant diagnosis. The security of the medical data is improved to maintain confidentiality and integrity using IoT. The least significant bit of the approximate coefficient of integer wavelet transform is proposed. The distortion between the cover image and stego-image is obtained by measuring the mean square error and PSNR, and normalized cross-correlation is utilized to estimate the degree of closeness between the cover image and stego-image.

Most children and elderly people worldwide die from pneumonia, which is a contagious illness that causes lung ulcers. For diagnosing pneumonia from chest X-ray images, many deep learning models have been put forth. The goal of this research is to develop an effective and strong approach for detecting and categorizing pneumonia cases. By varying the deep learning approach, three pre-trained models, GoogLeNet, ResNet18, and DenseNet121, are employed in this research to extract the main features of pneumonia and normal cases. In addition, the binary dipper throated optimization (DTO) algorithm is utilized to select the most significant features, which are then fed to the K-nearest neighbor (KNN) classifier for getting the final classification decision. To guarantee the best performance of KNN, its main parameter (K) is optimized using the continuous DTO algorithm. To test the proposed approach, six evaluation metrics were employed namely, positive and negative predictive values, accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and F1-score. Moreover, the proposed approach is compared with other traditional approaches, and the findings confirmed the superiority of the proposed approach in terms of all the evaluation metrics. The minimum accuracy achieved by the proposed approach is (98.5%), and the maximum accuracy is (99.8%) when different test cases are included in the evaluation experiments.

Medical image fusion is considered the best method for obtaining one image with rich details for efficient medical diagnosis and therapy. Deep learning provides a high performance for several medical image analysis applications. This paper proposes a deep learning model for the medical image fusion process. This model depends on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The basic idea of the proposed model is to extract features from both CT and MR images. Then, an additional process is executed on the extracted features. After that, the fused feature map is reconstructed to obtain the resulting fused image. Finally, the quality of the resulting fused image is enhanced by various enhancement techniques such as Histogram Matching (HM), Histogram Equalization (HE), fuzzy technique, fuzzy type Π, and Contrast Limited Histogram Equalization (CLAHE). The performance of the proposed fusion-based CNN model is measured by various metrics of the fusion and enhancement quality. Different realistic datasets of different modalities and diseases are tested and implemented. Also, real datasets are tested in the simulation analysis.

Anxiety is a common mental health issue that affects a significant portion of the global population and can lead to severe physical and psychological consequences. The proposed system aims to provide an objective and reliable method for the early detection of anxiety levels by using patients’ physical symptoms as input variables. This paper introduces an expert system utilizing a fuzzy inference system (FIS) to predict anxiety levels. The system is designed to address anxiety’s complex and uncertain nature by utilizing a comprehensive set of input variables and fuzzy logic techniques. It is based on a set of rules that represent medical knowledge of anxiety disorders, making it a valuable tool for clinicians in diagnosing and treating these disorders. The system was tested on real datasets, demonstrating high accuracy in the prediction of anxiety levels. The FIS-based expert system offers a powerful approach to cope with imprecision and uncertainty and can potentially assist in addressing the lack of effective remedies for anxiety disorders. The research primarily focused on Asian countries, such as Pakistan, and the system achieved an accuracy of 87%, which is noteworthy.
