Prof. Elena Silvestri

Elena Silvestri is an Associate professor of Physiology at the University of Sannio, Benevento. Silvestri's education includes a Master's Degree in Biology, cum laude, at the University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy (July 1999) and PhD in Environmental and Life Sciences, University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy (October 2003). Work history: December 2003 –October 2014 – Researcher in Physiology, University of Sannio, Benevento. Research themes: a) mediators of thyroid hormone action; b) cellular/mitochondrial thermogenesis; c) proteomic response of metabolically active tissues under physiopathological conditions (altered thyroid states, NAFLD, obesity, ageing, AD). Since 2006 member of the Italian Physiology Society and since 2013 member of the European Thyroid Association (ETA). Awards: September 2021 - Max Pierre König Poster Award, European Thyroid Association (ETA); September 2008 - National Award for young researchers in Physiology (Società Italiana di Fisiologia); July 2006 - The Italian Proteomic Association, Pisa, Italy.
