Julian Cruz Olivares is a chemical engineer who has completed postgraduate coursework at prestigious Mexican universities in both chemical engineering and environmental sciences. He is currently a full-time professor and researcher at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico's Faculty of Chemistry, where he teaches courses in the graduate program in Chemical Sciences in the areas of Thermodynamics and Separation Processes, as well as the undergraduate programs in Chemical Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering. Since 2014, he has been a part of Mexico's National System of Researchers. His research in extraction, microencapsulation, drying, environmental engineering, and supercritical fluids has resulted in 34 scientific publications and many book chapters. In addition to supervising over 50 undergraduate and graduate theses, he has taken part in over 12 research projects. Dr. Cruz Olivares' primary goals are to design equipment for wastewater separation and treatment operations using adsorption processes and to develop and implement technology in the extraction and microencapsulation processes of natural compounds using supercritical fluids and green chemistry.
