Dr. Pagonis received his M.Eng. degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Loughborough, U.K., in 1999. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in the area of integrated sensors and microelectronics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2001 and 2004, respectively. During 2005-2007, he held a post-doctoral position at the National Centre of Scientific Research “Demokritos.” He joined the University of West Attica in 2010 (after a three year academic break when he was a Flag State Surveyor for the Greek Ministry of Mercantile Shipping-Merchant Ships Inspection General Directorate), where he is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Naval Architecture. He has authored/co-authored 1 PCT patent in sensor technology and more than 60 research papers, including both journal articles and conference publications. He has participated in various research projects in the fields of sensors, real-time measurement of ship energy operating parameters, and implementation of alternative ship fuels. He has served as a member of journal editorial boards and conference scientific committees as well as a guest editor and reviewer for various academic journals and conferences. Dr. Pagonis’ current research interests include 3D/4D printing, measurement systems employing 3D/4D printing, sensor interfacing, sensors/actuators on flexible substrates, screen printing, and new microsystem technologies.
