One of the praxeological problems of safe and sustainable air transport (airfreight transport/air cargo, and air passenger transport) is the prevention and management of risks by competent staff, with the support of modern information and communication technologies. This paper presents an educational information model and software for the airport network and information systems risk assessment, primarily intended for aviation education and training of professionals for ensuring safe and sustainable air transport. The solution to the problem is based on the application of the fuzzy logic method in the air transport environment. Based on a fuzzy expert model, the selected scenario, and the input data established separately for airport assets by a group of 23 experts from aviation practice and a university, the following three assessments of airport network information system assets were constructed: Asset A2 (meteorological information systems) has an insignificant risk with an estimated 0.1162, and assets A1 (air traffic control and management (ATM), navigational aids and approach) and A3 (runway monitoring system) received a low risk of airport network and information systems (NIS) security with ratings of 0.2623 and 0.2915, respectively. An airport NIS risk assessment was aggregated (0.2288), indicating a low degree of security risk to the airport’s network and information systems. The aggregated risk assessment of airport NIS, including financial loss data, was calculated as 0.1438, representing a low degree of security risk to the airport’s network and information systems. Scenarios for evaluating airport assets are changing for students during education. The results of the developed model and its software will be part of the Simulation Center of the Faculty of Aeronautics.

Flight personnel have various factors that cause high psychological stress during the performance of flight tasks, thereby influencing their psycho-physiological experience, which may be a cause of a breach of air traffic safety. The paper presents the results of an experimental verification of task management under load, which allowed selection of probands from a sample of 100 participants in the presurvey. Overall, 70% of the probands achieved better results than the minimum level of success of simulated and the complex tasks, 60%. The main aim of the experiment, the presurvey, is to verify and prepare a final version of sets of test tasks in the field of measuring the psychophysiological performance of the candidates for aviation personnel and to complete the creation of a technical device and the software tool for these processes.

The main goal of the research is to develop an artificial intelligence technology to assess the practical knowledge of air traffic controller (ATCo) students based on their responses in simulated multitasking situations using the proposed neuro-fuzzy model verified in experiments. An informational neuro-fuzzy model was developed and verified on 157,500 real data points. It illustrates an example of inferring the level of practical knowledge in selected ATCo students who were tested using a device measuring the reaction time and relative error rate in multiple-task tasks. The average error in the incorrect response was 7.7% of the experimental data. Data processing was performed using fuzzy set theory and intellectual knowledge analysis. These measurement results are useful for an individual approach to the student’s education to understand and master the correct solutions to achieve the desired educational results. Ensuring a personal approach to the student’s education is key to acquiring the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies in the profile of the graduate. The developed technology will enable the integration of automated knowledge and skills assessment systems into the real educational process and the identification of problematic topics and tasks in the training of individuals. The result of the conducted research was used for the software design for the practical application in the flight training of ATCo students.

Testing in the field of parachute technology provides space for the application of new and innovative methods of measuring operating and functional parameters. The main aim of the paper is to present the results of research for the verification of the photo-optical method of measuring the vertical speed of the M-282 parachutes, and for its use in testing, collecting, and investigating motion data in parachuting. As part of this measuring technology, twelve jumps were performed. It was verified that the experiment was completed for the M-282 parachute according to the regulation of SAE AS 8015B “Minimum Performance Standard Parachute Assemblies and Components”. An analysis of the influencing factors and quantification of their influence on the uncertainty of the measurement results was also performed. The results of the measurement achieved by using the photo-optical method were compared with the measurement with the electronic variometer FLYTEC 4030. The vertical speed of the M-282 parachute (4.655 m·s−1) defined by the photo-optical method is significantly similar to the vertical speed of the M-282 parachute (4.662 m·s−1) defined by FLYTEC 4030. We can state that the process of identifying the vertical speed of the parachute by the photo-optical method was correct. This is a suitable method of evaluating motion data in the operation of M-282 type parachutes. In the following research for generalization of the methodology, we assume the performance of more than 60 experimental jumps using different types of parachutes, digital sensors (cameras), and a photo-optical method to examine motion data and formulate recommendations for testing, investigative applications, individualized training programs, and aspects of parachuting injury prevention.

Currently, the most erroneous element during the flight operation is a human. Regarding to continuous efforts spent on increase of the air transport safety level, a greater attention is now focused on human factors and comprehension of the factors having a negative impact on pilots and other crew members. The main goal of this study is to evaluate the fatigue effect on pilot performance during at least 24-hour measurements. The whole measurement consisted of two-hour time blocks, during which the pilot was flying, then the reaction time was measured and at the end psychological tests were conducted. The reaction time was chosen as an indicator of short-term performance. The study involved 4 pilots (men aged 21–27 years) with a given pre-flight regime. The results show that even though the pilots experienced a gradual fatigue during the measurements, it did not manifest in reaction times measurements. It can be stated, that despite the fatigue, the pilots are able to maintain short-term attention and maintain constant performance.

This article evaluated the functionality and reliability of the personal airborne equipment backpack TL-98 before its launch in military parachute operations. An objective of this project was the verification of the TL-98’s characteristics which could be important in terms of the safety of the operation of the parachute, i.e., its functionality and reliability during flight and fall tests. A major effort within this research was focused on the fall tests of the TL-98 in standard parachute operational conditions. The strength of the backpack’s anchorage points (by which the backpack is attached to the parachute harness) was verified by flight test, where it was dropped from the aircraft at the maximum operating speed and at the maximum operating weight of the backpack; the backpack’s maximum operating weight had been increased by multiplying the standard maximum operating weight by a safety factor of 1.2. During the fall tests of the backpack, after its disconnection from the parachute harness (during ground tests and the test during the test jump), the strength of the backpack’s anchoring eye and the strength of the rope with which the backpack is connected to the parachute harness were verified. Another objective of this research was the collection of information to define the TL-98’s rope lifetime, which serves for the dropping of the TL-98. To fulfill this goal, the impact forces on the rope during the backpack’s fall were measured using a force sensor. The values of the impact forces were then calculated and compared with the values from the experiment. Using experimentally obtained results and their comparison with the calculated results, the lifetime of the TL-98 rope for parachuting operations was determined on the basis of predetermined criteria.
