Digital transformation in renewable energy enterprises offers critical opportunities for China’s green orientation and sustainable growth. Based on a statistical data of Chinese A-share listed renewable energy companies, we explore the effects of digital transformation on a company’s financial performance and the mediating role of green technology innovation. The findings indicate that there is a driving effect of digital transformation on renewable energy companies’ financial performance. Our results remain valid after a series of robustness tests. Furthermore, a heterogeneous analysis indicates that enhancing digital transformation only positively affects the financial performance of state-owned firms and firms in the eastern area, and the driving effect of digital transformation is greater for large firms. In addition, green technology innovation plays a complete mediating role in digital transformation’s impact on renewable energy enterprises’ financial performance. Specifically, when a renewable energy company has digital transformation, it has better green technology innovation leading to better financial performance. Our results provide vital implications for promoting the effectiveness of digital transformation in the development of renewable energy enterprises.
Agriculture is one of the three major industries in China, and its level of development occupies an important position in the development of the national economy. At present, China vigorously promotes the strategy of rural revitalization, which provides new opportunities for agricultural modernization. Since modern agriculture and regional economy are coupled in a mutually influencing and constraining relationship, this paper constructs a coupled and coordinated evaluation index system of agricultural modernization and regional economic development. Using the entropy value method and coupled coordination degree model, the comprehensive development level and coordinated development degree of agricultural modernization and regional economic development of 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and cities in China from 2011 to 2020 were evaluated, revealing the time evolution and spatial distribution characteristics of the two systems. The results show that: (1) In the past decade, China’s agricultural modernization and regional economy have made some progress in terms of their respective development levels and the degree of coupling and coordination between them. (2) In terms of spatial evolution, there are obvious regional differences between the two systems, and the coupling coordination degree shows a “ladder” distribution pattern from the east to the central, northeastern, and western parts of the country. (3) Regions with a high level of regional economic development also have a relatively high degree of coupling and coordination between agricultural modernization and regional economic development. Our results provide insights into the economic effects of agricultural modernization in China and provide useful insights into the future direction of agricultural development programs in countries around the world.

The rapid growth of the renewable energy industry provides essential opportunities for China to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. A rising number of renewable energy companies are positively embracing digital transformation in the digital age. However, the relationship between digital transformation and the performance of renewable energy companies remains unclear. To fill this gap, leveraging the latest advances in textual analysis, we quantify the extent of a renewable energy enterprise’s digital transformation. Meanwhile, based on fixed effect model and mediating effect model, we investigate the influence of digital transformation on firm performance using a panel data of Chinese A-share listed renewable energy companies. The results indicate that digital transformation enhances a renewable energy enterprise’s performance. Further, the promotion effect of digital transformation is greater among state-owned enterprises and large firms and is only helpful for firms in the eastern area. Moreover, we document that when a renewable energy enterprise adopts digital transformation, it has higher operating efficiency, lower cost, and better innovation success resulting in better performance. This research elucidates the role of digital transformation in forwarding the development of renewable energy companies and bears significant policy implications.
Using the digital economy to empower urban economic green growth provides essential opportunities for China to achieve high-quality growth. This paper assesses the level of digital economy and green growth in Chinese cities, seeking to explore the mechanisms and effects of the digital economy on urban green growth in a unified framework. The results indicate that the digital economy can drive cities’ green growth. This conclusion still holds after a set of robustness tests. Meanwhile, the green value of the digital economy is fully released among the eastern cities, major urban agglomerations, and high-level cities. Further research shows that the digital economy can indirectly enhance urban green growth in the neighboring regions through spatial spillover effects. Moreover, labor resource mismatch, capital resource mismatch and green technology innovation are significant mediating mechanisms. The findings could guide policymakers on green growth in emerging economies from a digital economy perspective.
As global urbanization accelerates amidst compounding risks, comprehensive urban resilience assessment has emerged as a pivotal issue in optimizing risk governance pathways. Grounded in the Pressure–State–Response (PSR) theoretical framework, this study constructs a multidimensional evaluation system for comprehensive urban resilience. Through the integration of a combined weighting method and the TOPSIS model, we systematically measure resilience levels across 13 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province, with the obstacle degree model employed to identify critical resilience constraints. The findings reveal significant spatial heterogeneity in regional resilience patterns. High-resilience cities establish positive feedback mechanisms through economic foundations, innovation-driven strategies, and institutional coordination. Conversely, low-resilience cities face multidimensional constraints, including industrial structure imbalance, inadequate social security systems, and infrastructure deficiencies. The resilience disparity stems from the coupling effects of systemic multidimensional elements, with three core obstacles identified: energy consumption and population pressure in the Pressure dimension, medical resource scarcity and innovation deficit in the State dimension, and fiscal expenditure inefficiency in the Response dimension. The study proposes strategic interventions, including fiscal structure optimization, cross-regional resource coordination enhancement, and innovation–translation mechanism improvement, to facilitate urban systems’ transformation from passive resistance to proactive adaptation. This research provides novel perspectives for analyzing complex system resilience evolution and offers scientific grounds for urban agglomeration risk prevention and sustainable development.
Digitization has become a core engine for China’s energy companies to achieve green transition in a competitive marketplace. Using the panel data of China’s A-share listed energy companies, this study explores the impact of digitalization on energy companies’ green transition. The finding demonstrates that digitalization can significantly drive energy companies’ green transition. This finding remains valid following a series of robustness tests. Moreover, digitalization can indirectly enhance energy companies’ green transition by enhancing technological innovation and optimizing operational capacity. Further research demonstrates that the promoting effect of digitalization on green transition in the state-owned companies, growing and mature energy companies and companies in the east are more fully released. This research could assist policymakers and professionals in energy companies with decision-making references to promote green transition.
