Prof. Ilenia Farina is currently an Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Naples, "Parthenope." She holds a DPhil in Energy Science and Engineering from the same university. The focus of her research is on the testing and development of novel reinforcing materials with improved performance and produced through 3D-printed metallic technology. Furthermore, her research activity focuses on sustainable use of materials and waste as resources. Previously, she conducted experimental studies to demonstrate the employability of plastic fibers obtained from waste plastic as dispersed reinforcement in cementitious materials. Moreover, she has worked on the development of new fiber-reinforced geopolymers using conventional raw materials as well as inorganic waste materials.
