Remote health monitoring applications with the advent of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies have changed traditional healthcare services. Additionally, in terms of personalized healthcare and disease prevention services, these depend primarily on the strategy used to derive knowledge from the analysis of lifestyle factors and activities. Through the use of intelligent data retrieval and classification models, it is possible to study disease, or even predict any abnormal health conditions. To predict such abnormality, the Convolutional neural network (CNN) model is used, which can detect the knowledge related to disease prediction accurately from unstructured medical health records. However, CNN uses a large amount of memory if it uses a fully connected network structure. Moreover, the increase in the number of layers can lead to an increase in the complexity analysis of the model. Therefore, to overcome these limitations of the CNN-model, we propose a CNN-regular target detection and recognition model based on the Pearson Correlation Coefficient and regular pattern behavior, where the term regular denotes objects that generally appear in similar contexts and have structures with low variability. In this framework, we develop a CNN-regular pattern discovery model for data classification. First, the most important health-related factors are selected in the first hidden layer, then in the second layer, a correlation coefficient analysis is conducted to classify the positively and negatively correlated health factors. Moreover, regular patterns behaviors are discovered through mining the regular pattern occurrence among the classified health factors. The output of the model is subdivided into regular-correlated parameters related to obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Two distinct datasets are adopted to mitigate the effects of the CNN-regular knowledge discovery model. The experimental results show that the proposed model has better accuracy, and low computational load, compared with three different machine learning techniques methods.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have demonstrated exceptional results in the analysis of time- series data when used for Human Activity Recognition (HAR). The manual design of such neural architectures is an error-prone and time-consuming process. The search for optimal CNN architectures is considered a revolution in the design of neural networks. By means of Neural Architecture Search (NAS), network architectures can be designed and optimized automatically. Thus, the optimal CNN architecture representation can be found automatically because of its ability to overcome the limitations of human experience and thinking modes. Evolution algorithms, which are derived from evolutionary mechanisms such as natural selection and genetics, have been widely employed to develop and optimize NAS because they can handle a blackbox optimization process for designing appropriate solution representations and search paradigms without explicit mathematical formulations or gradient information. The Genetic optimization algorithm (GA) is widely used to find optimal or near-optimal solutions for difficult problems. Considering these characteristics, an efficient human activity recognition architecture (AUTO-HAR) is presented in this study. Using the evolutionary GA to select the optimal CNN architecture, the current study proposes a novel encoding schema structure and a novel search space with a much broader range of operations to effectively search for the best architectures for HAR tasks. In addition, the proposed search space provides a reasonable degree of depth because it does not limit the maximum length of the devised task architecture. To test the effectiveness of the proposed framework for HAR tasks, three datasets were utilized: UCI-HAR, Opportunity, and DAPHNET. Based on the results of this study, it has been found that the proposed method can efficiently recognize human activity with an average accuracy of 98.5% (∓1.1), 98.3%, and 99.14% (∓0.8) for UCI-HAR, Opportunity, and DAPHNET, respectively.

In the era of digital information, online platforms play a crucial role in shaping public opinion. However, the extensive spread of misinformation and fake news poses a significant challenge, largely fueled by non-credible users. Detecting user credibility is vital for ensuring the reliability of information on these platforms. This study employs supervised machine learning algorithms, leveraging key user features to enhance credibility detection. Feature selection methods, specifically SelectKBest and correlation-based algorithms, are explored for their impact on X-Platform user credibility detection. Utilizing various classifiers, including support vector machine, logistic regression, and XGBoost, experiments are conducted on the ArPFN dataset, which is a labeled, balanced, publicly available dataset. The evaluation includes measures like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score to assess efficiency. This research considers feature categories and selection methods with SML to detect their impact on the accuracy of X-Platform user credibility detection, making this research a reference for researchers and practitioners working in the field of SML, feature engineering, and social media analysis. We aim to advance the field’s understanding of effective strategies for mitigating the spread of fake news. The novelty of this study lies in the comprehensive exploration of feature selection methods and their influence on credibility detection, contributing valuable insights for future research in this domain.

Cataracts are common eye disorders characterized by the clouding of the lens, preventing light from passing through and impairing vision. Various factors, including changes in the lens’s hydration or alterations in its proteins, may contribute to their development. Regular eye examinations conducted by an ophthalmologist or optometrist are imperative for detecting cataracts and other ocular conditions early on. Manual checks by caregivers pose several problems, including subjectivity, human error, and a lack of expertise. Biomedical fusion involves combining or linking various characteristics specific to certain diseases from different medical imaging resources. The primary objectives of this approach in disease classification are to reduce the error rate and increase the number of retrieved features. The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcomes associated with fusing visual features related to left and right eye cataract characteristics. Additionally, we investigate the impact of limited variability in deep learning models, specifically in the classification of cataract fundus versus normal fundus images. To address this issue, this study introduces CataractNetDetect, an innovative multi-label deep learning classification system that fuses feature representations from pairs of fundus images (e.g., left and right eyes) for the automatic diagnosis of various ocular disorders. Our focus is on achieving improved performance by stacking discriminative deep feature representations to combine two fundus images into a unified feature representation. Several deep learning architectures are utilized as feature descriptors, including ResNet-50, DenseNet-121, and Inception-V3, enhancing the resilience and quality of representations. Fine-tuning of these DL architectures is conducted using the ImageNet dataset, followed by an integrated stacking approach combining ResNet-50, DenseNet-121, and Inception-V3 models. The model is trained on the publicly available ODIR-5k dataset, which includes 5000 left/right eye images depicting eight different ocular conditions, ranging from healthy states to uncommon ailments such as cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetes, hypertension, and myopia abnormalities. Moreover, extensive preprocessing of the images is performed, including data augmentation, noise reduction, contrast enhancement, scaling, and circular border cropping. The CataractNetDetect system demonstrates F1-scores, AUC, and maximum validation scores of 98.0%, 97.9%, and 100%, respectively. This ensemble-based model distinguishes itself by surpassing the performance of conventional established methodologies, including ResNet-50, DenseNet-121, and Inception-V3, thereby underscoring its efficacy in diagnostic applications.

Research in recent years has shown a merge between the areas of requirements engineering and semantic technologies. With the release of the semantic concept and the progress of semantic technologies, the opportunities for applying ontologies as a means to define information and knowledge semantics have become increasingly accepted in different domains. Concurrently, the implementation of most requirements classification techniques does not handle the semantic aspects of requirements. If the meaning of requirements and their relations can be handled, software developers can obtain more effective requirement classifications to produce requirements specifications of higher quality. In this study, a domain ontology is proposed to present a requirements classification technique that can be used to share and describe different classifications. The proposed ontology is built using a systematic method based on Methontology and it is implemented using Protégé. The developed ontology was successfully evaluated using validation and verification tests. The validation test included the evaluation of content and competency questions, while the verification test included the evaluation of taxonomy and the implementation of the FOCA method. The proposed ontology may represent a significant contribution to ontology libraries. In addition, this ontology can be used in several ways to increase the quality of software requirements specification documents. It could also ensure consistency between requirements, and facilitate communication between requirements engineers owing to the use of same terminologies for various software applications.
