José Armando L. da Silva has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Currently, he teaches at IST, Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa). His general research interests are in bioinorganic chemistry, and more recently, this scientific topic has been applied to prebiotic chemistry. He is developing his research on the role of chemical elements in prebiological evolution, as well as investigating how some ions and small molecules could affect our analyses of biosignatures associated with extraterrestrial rocky samples.
