The change in land use and land cover in upstream watersheds will change the features of drainage systems such that they will impact surface overflow and affect the infiltration capacity of a land surface, which is one of the factors that contributes to flooding. The key objective of this study is to identify vulnerable areas of flooding and to assess the causes of flooding using ground-based measurement, remote sensing data, and GIS-based flood risk mapping approaches for the flood hazard mapping of the Teunom watershed. The purposes of this investigation were to: (1) examine the level and characteristics of land use and land cover changes that occurred in the area between 2009 and 2019; (2) determine the impact of land use and land cover changes on the water overflow and infiltration capacity; and (3) produce flood risk maps for the Teunom sub-district. Landsat imagery of 2009, 2013, and 2019; slope maps; and field measurement soil characteristics data were utilized for this study. The results show a significant increase in the use of residential land, open land, rice fields, and wetlands (water bodies) and different infiltration rates that contribute to the variation of flood zone hazards. The Teunom watershed has a high and very high risk of ~11.98% of the total area, a moderate risk of 56.24%, and a low and very low risk of ~31.79%. The Teunom watershed generally has a high flood risk, with a total of ~68% of the area (moderate to very high risk). There was a substantial reduction in forest land, agricultural land, and shrubs from 2009 to 2019. Therefore, the segmentation of flood-risk zones is essential for preparation in the region. The study offers basic information about flood hazard areas for central governments, local governments, NGOs, and communities to intervene in preparedness, responses, and flood mitigation and recovery processes, respectively.

This study aims to determine the distribution of the vegetation indexes to estimate the carbon stocks of forest stands in the Production Forest of Lembah Seulawah sub-district. Aceh Province, Indonesia. A non-destructive method using allometric equations and landscape scale method were applied, where in carbon stocks at the points of samples are correlated with the index values of each transformation of the vegetation indexes; EVI and NDVI. Results show that EVI values of study area from 0.05 to 0.90 and NDVI values from 0.17 to 0.85. The regression analysis between EVI with carbon stock value of sample locations equation is Y = 151.7X-39.76. with the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.83. From this calculation, the total carbon stocks in the Production Forest area of Lembah Seulawah sub-district using EVI is estimated 790.344.41 tonnes, and the average value of carbon stocks in average is 51.48 tons per hectare. Regression analysis between NDVI values at the research locations for the carbon stack measured samples is Y = 204.Xx-102.1 with coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.728. Total carbon stocks in production forest of Lembah Seulawah sub-district using NDVI is estimated 711.061.81 tones. and the average value of carbon stocks is 46.32 tons per hectare. From the above results it can be concluded that the vegetation indexes: EVI and NDVI are vegetation indexed that have a very close correlation with carbon stocks stands estimation. The correlation between EVI with carbon stock and the correlation between NDVI with carbon stock is not significantly different

The Tripa Peat Swamp Forest (TPSF) suffers from deforestation due to agriculture, this habitat degradation potentially has a negative impact on fish biodiversity and community assemblages. The objective of this study was to develop an inventory of the fish fauna, evaluate the spatial variation in assemblage structure, document alien species, and quantify the economic value of fish species found from the area. Fish assemblages from the main rivers and tributaries of TPSF were sampled on May to June 2013. A total of 764 individuals were sampled during the survey, constituting 34 families, 47 genera, and 73 species where 46 species are categorized as fish consumption, 17 have potential for aquaculture, and 10 species have potential for ornamental, and three are non native. Cyprinidae is the predominant fish family within the TPSF. Fish assemblages were generally characterized by small population size for each species and low similarity among sites, reflecting the distinctive nature of each sampling site.

Muchlisin ZA, Batubara AS, Siti-Azizah MN, Adlim M, Hendri A, Fadli N, Muhammadar AA, Sugianto S. 20015. Feedinghabit and length weight relationship of keureling fish, Tor tambra Valenciennes, 1842 (Cyprinidae) from the western region of Aceh Province, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 16: 89-94. The objective of the present study was to describe the aspects of feeding habit and lengthweightrelationship of keureling fish Tor tambra, this information is crucial to plan a conservation startegy for this species. A series ofsamples were taken between June and September 2012 and February 2014 in the two main rivers of western Aceh i.e. the Sikundo andNagan Rivers. A total of 48 and 38 fish were caught during the study in Nagan and Sikundo Rivers, respectively. Stomach contentanalysis suggested that freshwater green algae and earthworms were the main food items for T. tambra, indicating an omnivorousfeeding habit. In addition, the length-weight relationship revealed that T. tambra has an allometric negative growth pattern from allpopulations, and the condition factors indicate the rivers are still in good condition and support fish life.

The coastline is the boundary between sea water and land. This boundary is always changing very dynamically and interacting with each other, temporary changes such as tides and changes due to abrasion and accretion over a long period of time. Changes in coastlines are caused by natural processes and human activities in utilizing coastal areas to meet their needs (Niya, et al., 2013). The purpose of this study is to determine the occurrence of shoreline changes, the width of shoreline changes and the factors causing it. The analysis of shoreline changes begins with the collection of secondary data, namely Landsat 5, 7 and 8 imagery. Then proceed with analysis using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) tools. The results of the analysis show that there has been a change in the coastline in the last 20 years. Most of the changes in the shoreline undergo abrasion and only a small part undergoes accretion. Abrasion occurs naturally due to the kinetic energy of seawater while accretion occurs in built-up areas, namely infrastructure development such as ports, docks and areas built by Seawall.

This study aims to assess Flood susceptibility and flood hazard levels and obtain the distribution of hazard levels and flood hazards in the Woyla watershed, Aceh Province. This research design generally uses a descriptive survey method and divide into several stages, such as data collection, data processing, data presentation, and delivery of research results. Each determinant of flood-prone areas includes a land slope, altitude, soil texture, drainage, land cover, and rainfall, analyzed spatially utilizing a map. Furthermore, based on the map, the regions are described based on the values that have been divided into classes. The results showed that the level of flood vulnerability in the Woyla watershed was divided into five classes, namely; the non-vulnerable class with an area of 14.88 Ha / 0.01%, low prone with an area of 90,731.62 Ha / 35.45%, medium with an area of 57,120.35 Ha / 22.32%, high with an area of 44,918.15 Ha / 17.55%, and very high with an area of 63,151.72 Ha / 24.67%. Also obtained a map of the distribution of flood hazard areas, the Woyla watershed area is divided into five classes, namely; the very light class with an area of 179,146.15 Ha / 70.00%, mild with an area of 32,868.84 Ha / 12.84%, moderate with an area of 20,129.93 Ha / 7.87%, danger with an area of 6.007. 29 Ha / 2, 35%, and very dangerous with an area of 17,784.51 Ha / 6.95%. The level of flood vulnerability in the Woyla watershed is dominant in West Aceh Regency, which is in the very high and high category classes with a total area of 56,876.65 Ha and 23,527.40 Ha. Meanwhile, the level of flood hazard in the Woyla watershed is also more dominant in West Aceh Regency than falls into the most dangerous and dangerous class category with a total area of 17,784.51 Ha and 6,007.29 Ha. With the largest part in the very light class at the flood hazard level of 179,146.15 ha.
