Dr. Xiuqin Rao is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the College of Biosystem Engineering and Food Science at Zhejiang University. He is a core member of the Intelligent Bioindustrial Equipment Innovation Team (IBE, 1994.05~).He graduated from Wuhan Institute of Technology in July 1991 with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He received a Master’s degree in Engineering from Zhejiang Agricultural University in July 1996 and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Zhejiang University in March 2007. He studied at the University of Maryland and the USDA Environmental Microbial and Food Safety Laboratory in the United States as a visiting scholar in 2005 and 2011, respectively. He has obtained more than 120 authorized patents, of which over 90 are invention patents, and won the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award in 2008. He is primarily engaged in the research of machine vision technology and its application in agricultural product quality inspection. As the main contributor, he participated in the development and promotion of China’s first intelligent real-time inspection and grading production line for fruit quality based on computer vision.
