In this study, we successfully prepared core–shell heterostructured nanocomposites (Fe NWs@SiO2), with ferromagnetic nanowires (Fe NWs) as the core and silica (SiO2) as the shell. The composites exhibited enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption and oxidation resistance and were synthesized using a simple liquid-phase hydrolysis reaction. We tested and analyzed the microwave absorption properties of Fe NWs@SiO2 composites with varied filling rates (mass fractions of 10 wt%, 30 wt%, and 50 wt% after mixing with paraffin). The results showed that the sample filled with 50 wt% had the best comprehensive performance. At the matching thickness of 7.25 mm, the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) could reach −54.88 dB at 13.52 GHz and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB, RL < −10 dB) could reach 2.88 GHz in the range of 8.96–17.12 GHz. Enhanced microwave absorption performance of the core–shell structured Fe NWs@SiO2 composites could be attributed to the magnetic loss of the composite, the core–shell heterogeneous interface polarization effect, and the small-scale effect induced by the one-dimensional structure. Theoretically, this research provided Fe NWs@SiO2 composites with highly absorbent and antioxidant core–shell structures for future practical applications.

In climbing robots, weak grasping, large size, and a lack of self-perception capability are critical problems that urgently need to be solved. Inspired by the excellent grasping ability of primate hands and the simple locomotion method of inchworms, this study proposes an inchworm-like climbing robot based on synergistic cable-driven grippers and a telescopic torso. First, the overall structure of the climbing robot was designed by analyzing the characteristic movements of primate hands and inchworms. Next, a cable-driven soft gripper was designed based on geometric, modulus, and motion similarity with primate hands using dimensionless analysis. Then, a telescopic climbing robot torso was designed to mimic the peristalsis motion of inchworms by using double flexible thin-shelled rods that bend easily in the forward direction and resist movement in the reverse direction. Subsequently, flexible tensile strain sensors were designed based on carbon nanotubes and iron nanowires and then integrated into the soft grippers and torso for self-perception of the motion state. Subsequently, flexible sensors, soft grippers, and a telescopic torso were fabricated using casting and dipping–pulling technology. Finally, the climbing performance of the robot was experimentally tested. The results indicate that the robot can stably climb pipes with different roughness and diameters, and the embedded sensors can capture the motion of the gripper and torso. The climbing speed of the robot was 3.3 mm/s for horizontal pipes and 1.0 mm/s for vertical pipes.

Multidirectional flexible strain sensors are critical in areas such as medicine, sports, robotics, and virtual reality. However, the current problem is that it is difficult to achieve accurate multidirectional detection while having excellent sensing performance. In this paper, the sensitive layer is successfully fabricated using Fe NWs, graphene and interlock knitted fabrics. The cross-shaped structure multidirectional flexible strain sensor is fabricated based on the Fe NWs/Graphene/Interlock Knitted Fabric sensitive layer. The unique multidirectional sensing property of the cross-shaped structure designed by the principle of orthogonal configuration enables the sensor to realize multidirectional sensing, there is a clear manifestation of the direction of the applied force, but there is almost no response to the direction perpendicular to the applied force. Excellent anisotropic sensing ability within the working range of 0-75%, with a sensitivity of 8.888 in the stretching direction and a sensitivity of 0 in the vertical stretching direction. This means that sensors can accurately identify and analyze strain changes in specific directions, thereby better supporting the multidirectional perception requirements in practical application scenarios. Moreover, the sensor has a good linear response (R 2 =99.0%) in a large strain range (75%-100%) and good reproducibility at up to 80% strain (~2000 cycles). In addition, by detecting the complex multi-freedom neck and wrist movements of the human body and applying different angles of stress, multidirectional motion monitoring is realized, which shows a broad application prospect in the fields of motion monitoring and human-computer interaction.
