Professor Dr.-Ing habil. Jean Pierre Bergmann graduated with honors as a Doctor of Engineering from the University of Ancona, Italy. In 1998, he became a welding engineer (EWE, IWE) and worked as a freelancer in welding companies. He earned his PhD in 2003 from the University of Bayreuth and worked as a research associate and senior engineer there until 2007. He then held senior roles in industry, including heading the Laser Metal Processing department at JENOPTIK. Since 2010, he has been a professor at TU Ilmenau.
