Dr. Rajendra earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Pune in 2017. During his doctoral studies, he participated in the Indigo Program-2012, collaborating with Prof. Burkhard Koenig at the University of Regensburg, Germany, on "The activation of diazo-ketones using visible light photoredox-catalysis." In January 2017, he was awarded the SERB-National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF). He joined Dr. Nitin Patil's research group, later transitioning to Dr. C. V. Ramana's team at the National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, India. He focused on "Applications of Iridium-Catalyzed Reactions and Photoredox-Catalysis in Organic Chemistry." In January 2019, he relocated to the University of Florida, USA, to work alongside Prof. Zhongwu Guo. His primary research interests include: developing new synthetic methodologies for carbohydrates, glycopeptides, and glycolipids; conducting chemical and chemoenzymatic syntheses of both natural and unnatural glycans and glycoconjugates; applying these to biology and medicine; investigating molecules on cell surfaces to discover new molecular markers; and creating novel therapeutics for cancer and other diseases.
