COVID-19 has caused a major crisis all over the world. To manage this crisis, a fixed shift system was applied to nursing home staff in Turkey to protect nursing home residents from the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff were not allowed to leave the institution during fixed shifts. It is thought that this practice for the COVID-19 outbreak, while protecting nursing home residents on the one hand, increased the workload and related stress of nursing home staff on the other hand. To the best of our knowledge, there is no study examining the workload and stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic for nursing home staff in Turkey. The aim of this study was to examine the level of workload and work stress experienced by staff working in nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. Methods: A cross-sectional research design was used in the study. The sample of the study consisted of nursing home personnel working in nursing homes in the provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya between October 2021 and January 2022. A personal information form and a workload and stress scale were used for collecting the data. Cluster analysis was performed with SPSS software. Results: In total, 154 nursing home personnel participated in the study. A statistically significant difference was found between the mean age of the two clusters. The first cluster was described as “old” and the second as “young”. Statistically significant and high values were found in the quantitative workload, qualitative workload, job organization, social work area and fatigue factors in the nursing home staff in the older participant cluster. Conclusion: The results of this study provide new information about the concepts of workload and work stress experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey, which will serve as a guide for the management of future pandemics. Therefore, this study will contribute to the strategies to be followed in future pandemics in Turkey.
In this work, wireless control of a 6-degree-of-freedom industrial robot by using Myo armband to carry out pick and place task is aimed. Myo armband has built in sensors such as gyroscope and electromyography sensors. The gesture and motion of human arm is detected and the robot is remotely manipulated. The movement of robot achieved by using measured roll, pitch and yaw angle of arm wearing Myo band. The control of robot gripper is achieved by sensing the opening and closing of the human hand. Bluetooth is used for the wireless communication between arm band and robot controller. It is observed that three axis position and gripper control of robot is successfully achieved. By using considered configuration, a pick and place operation is also successfully completed. The proposed configuration can be used in human-robot interaction and teleoperation studies.
Environmental noise has become an important issue in urban life quality. Policy makers, local authorities and researchers have been trying to solve this issue in a smart way. In this study, it was examined the recreational noise pollution and management strategies already applied in two cities of Antalya and Konya respectively located in Mediterrnaean and Middle Anatolian Region in Turkey. For Antalya City, the strategic noise map, noise complaint data and noise assessment reports for entertainment places were evaluated. For Konya City, it was assessed the strategic noise map and the environmental noise monitoring system which can be considered as one of the first applicable system in Turkey in terms of noise management. Under the light of the applications in two cities, it is recommended that improving and installing the environmental noise monitoring system as a communicative tool in noise policy applications may be beneficial especially for the recrational noise pollution control in order to achieve effective noise complaint management and to provide dynamic noise maps. Moreover, designing quiet areas as buffering zone by using the soundscape approach may also be an innovative way in mitigating the noise annoyance due to recreational noise pollution in residential areas.

Objectives: The purpose of this study are: a) to review evidence-based and cumulative information health tourism literature by bibliometric analyses; b) to identifies the current 100 top-cited articles in health tourism ranging from 1970 to 2020 and indexed in Web of Science (WoS). Method: Retrospective analysis was used bibliometric information from the database of WoS. The obtained data analyzed by using VOSviewer through a software package. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software version 23.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL). Results: The citation count of the most-cited articles varied from 27 to 361 WoS (1970 – 2020). The most productive year was 2010 and the most productive country is the USA. 65 different journals were detected and the most frequent article was Tourism Management. Total citation time was positively associated with the age of the article (p
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Turkish republic, is the subject of many more or less ‘heroic’ biographies and few critical ones. His anamnesis, however, is only available in fragments. Many books omit details of Atatürk’s health and life, for example his bloodline, his illness and eventually his death, his funeral prayer and ceremony and his burial. His liver problem, diagnosed as cirrhosis and said to be the cause of his death, is well described but his general health and other sicknesses are scarcely recorded. This paper provides an overview of his anamnesis as far as it is known, the literature describing it and the level of knowledge generally published, and it also indicates where original research in the archives is needed to complete the picture.
