This paper analyses and compares the effects on outlet water temperature, heat transfer rate and its thermal efficiency of three different types of tubes such as twisted tape inserted tube, louvered strip inserted tube and a surface treated (laser peened) tube are dealt with different operating parameters, viz., solar insolation, water temperature at the inlet and ambient temperature. Non-concentrate collector (flat plate) is used. A plain or normal tube (non-surface treated) was also tested for comparison. Polystyrene and acrylic glasses were used for reduced heat loss. It is observed that the heat transfer rate and its thermal efficiency tend to increase with the increased ambient temperature and solar insolation with the louvered strip inserts had given the best thermal performance in comparison with the other types.
In current scenario the aircraft industry in need of a lightweight connecting material that persuade the technical and technological standards, but also need superior mechanical qualities. In this work the major objective is to enhance the strength behaviour of stir cast composites. Aluminum 8011 (Al 8011) titanium carbide (TiC) and zirconium boron (ZrB2) hybrid composites are stir cast in this work, and their microstructure, mechanical, and tribological properties are investigated. The matrix material was Al 8011, which was supplemented with stronger TiC to boost mechanical strength and softer ZrB2 to improve thermal and corrosion resistance without significantly changing electrical properties. According to the findings, the reinforced alloy’s mechanical qualities outperform those of the unreinforced alloy. Acoustic energy generated during deformation of composite materials has been monitored and early fracture measurements has been achieved using the Acoustic emission (AE) approach in tensile test specimens. As a result of the experiment, Al8011 + 10% TiC + 2% ZrB2 composites outperform the Al8011 matrix alloy in terms of wear resistance, coefficient of friction, and surface smoothness, as well as other characteristics. The AFM representation of Al8011 + 10% TiC + 2% ZrB2 matrix reveals that the wear surface smoothness of the AMMC is significantly improved as compared to the Al8011 matrix alloys.

Modern industries turn into light weight high strength materials. Aluminum alloys are having such a great property, in which, AA 7075 T651 provides good strength than other alloys. Hence, hardness of aluminum alloys are poor there by improvement of surface hardness of aluminum alloy is necessitate. Shot peening, severe surface mechanical treatment (SSMT) and laser shock peening (LSP) are the surface property enhancement processes, which are used to improve the surface hardness of AA 7075 T651. This article deals with study the effect of shot peening, Severe surface modification process and laser shock peening on AA 7075 T 651. Among these two processes, LSP reveals better improvement in surface hardness. The Vickers micro hardness test is contacted on the specimens. 15%, 18% and 29% of harness improvements are obtain than unpeened specimen in shot peened specimen, SSMT specimen and Laser shock peened specimen respectively. The deformed layer thickness is 500 µm found in the laser shock peened specimen and 300 µm in the shot peened and SSMT treated specimens.

Severe surface Plastic deformation plays a vital role in materials and several investigations are made on this route. Though, the influence of stacking fault energy of materials on severe surface plastic deformation is not done yet. This investigation studied the optimization of process parameter of SMTP with varying stacking fault energies on wear characteristics of AA6061 and ETP-Copper materials. Also, this investigation on reduction in the stacking fault energy contributes wear characterization were determined. The process parameters such as size of shots, speed of revolution of shaft and duration of treatment chosen which are directly associated to the energy imparted to the surface to induce high strains, accumulation of dislocations and grain refinement that leads to enhancement in strength of material surface. The predicted optimal vales of AA6061 are 4 mm shots, 750 rpm speed of revolution and 45 min duration and ETP-Copper are 4 mm shots, 500 rpm speed of revolution and 60 min duration. The wear volume loss of AA6061, a wear volume loss of 14.5854 × 10 −5 cm 3 is found, which 58% is lower than the wear volume loss of the untreated sample. The wear volume loss of ETP-Copper is 9.5366 × 10 −5 cm 3 , which is 58% lower than the wear volume loss of the untreated sample.
