Technology for electric vehicles (EVs) is a developing subject that offers numerous advantages, such as reduced operating costs. Since the goal of EVs has always been to have long-lasting batteries, any new hardware might drastically diminish battery life. Errors are common among human beings. Because of that, accidents and fatalities may occur due to drivers’ different behaviors such as sports style and moderation. To advance driver safety, security, and comfort, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) must be personalized. Modern cars have ADAS that relieves the driver of some of the tasks they perform while driving. As a part of this research, a driver identification system based on a deep driver classification model (deep neural network as DNN) with feature reduction techniques (random forest as RF and principal component analysis as PCA) is implemented to help automate and aid in crucial jobs such as the brake system in an efficient manner. Using task models, we simulate a low-cost driver assisted scheme in real time, where various scenarios are explored and the schedulability of tasks is established before implementing them in EV. The new driver assistance scheme has several advantages over the existing options. It lowers the risk of an accident and ensures driver safety. The proposed model (RF-DNN) achieved 97.05% of accuracy and the PCA-DNN model achieved 95.55% of accuracy, whereas the artificial neural network as ANN with PCA and RF achieved nearly 92% of accuracy.
Superabundant utilization of electricity in the residential sector is one of the major reasons for frequent peak demand. Hence, power sector necessitates an appropriate solution to control and monitor the peak demand. In this regard, implementation of an appropriate home energy management system becomes mandatory at customer premises to have an effective control over peak demand. Thus, in this research a simple home energy management using Two-Phase Simplex Method (TPSM) is proposed with an objective to (i) reduce peak demand, (ii) reduce consumer consumption cost, and (iii) conserve consumer comfort level. Further, the research proposes detailed investigations on the smart energy-home management model monitored by IoT. For simulations, different load scenarios are considered and the results are compared with the existing benchmarks available in the literature. On validations, the proposed TPSM method is found simple, reliable and efficient. More importantly, the multipurpose objectives has certainly given better results in consumer consumption cost that can give better control to peak demand. Furthermore, the usage of lucid simplex method has almost reduced the computational complexity to fasten the response time. In this regard, consumer comfort is served here is considered as a major accomplishment with the proposed work.
Most Electrical Appliance in home still use electricity while turned-off. Turned-off electric appliance generally still require standby power when they are plugged in. In this paper we proposed a way to reduce standby power of electric home appliance and ZigBee based smart meter for smart grid application. The proposed socket supplies the appliances with power when the user turns them on. Our socket shuts the electric power off and reduces the standby power to zero when the user turns them off. The proposed design uses a microcontroller unit (MCU) receives signals from a Core Balanced Current Transformer (CBCT) and from a Pyroelectric Infrared (PIR) sensor which detects the user approaching the socket and provides MCU to control the relay On/Off when used as an appliance switch for shutting off the standby power. The components used in the proposed design are low cost and consume only 0.5W. The MCU monitoring program provides both automatic detection of the user by the PIR sensor and detection of power consumption. The MCU measure the instantaneous current values and send it to data center computer through ZigBee module which acts as a smart meter for smart grid application
With the latest development of smart grid technology, the energy management system can be efficiently implemented at consumer premises. In this paper, an energy management system with wireless communication and smart meter are designed for scheduling the electric home appliances efficiently with an aim of reducing the cost and peak demand. For an efficient scheduling scheme, the appliances are classified into two types: uninterruptible and interruptible appliances. The problem formulation was constructed based on the practical constraints that make the proposed algorithm cope up with the real-time situation. The formulated problem was identified as Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem, so this problem was solved by a step-wise approach. This paper proposes a novel Minimum Cost Maximum Power (MCMP) algorithm to solve the formulated problem. The proposed algorithm was simulated with input data available in the existing method. For validating the proposed MCMP algorithm, results were compared with the existing method. The compared results prove that the proposed algorithm efficiently reduces the consumer electricity consumption cost and peak demand to optimum level with 100% task completion without sacrificing the consumer comfort.
