With the wide application of lithium batteries, battery fault prediction and health management have become more and more important. This article proposes a method for predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of lithium-ion batteries to avoid a series of safety problems caused by continuing to use the battery after reaching its service life threshold. Since the battery capacity is not easy to obtain online, we propose that some measurable parameters should be used in the battery discharge cycle to estimate battery capacity. Then, the estimated capacity is used to replace the measured value of the particle filter (PF) based on the Kendall rank correlation coefficient (KCCPF) to predict the RUL of the lithium batteries. Simulation results show that the proposed method has high prediction accuracy, stability, and practical value.

Aiming at the problem that the path search rules in the traditional path planning methods are divorced from the actual maneuverability of an unmanned surface vehicle (USV), a motion planning method of state prediction rapidly exploring random tree (spRRT) is proposed. This method retains the discrete search of the original rules of RRT while adding the continuity of the motion of USV. Firstly, the state information for each movement (position, yaw angle, velocity, etc.), is calculated based on the mathematical model of USV’s motion which takes into account the complete dynamic constraints. Secondly, this information is added to the RRT path search rules to predict the state points that can be reached by the USV. Furthermore, in order to improve search efficiency and reduce cost, spRRT is enhanced by an elliptic sampling domain (spRRT-Informed). The simulation results indicate that spRRT can effectively plan smooth paths for smoothly navigating USV. The inclusion of the USV motion model has improved steering performance by an average of over 40%. Additionally, the spRRT-Informed enhanced with sampling optimization strategy improves performance by at least 10% over spRRT in terms of sailing time and distance of the path. The results of the simulation conducted in a realistic scenario validate that spRRT-Informed can be used as a reference for practical applications.

In this paper, a hybrid ship powered by diesel generator sets and power batteries in series is considered. By analyzing the characteristics of hybrid ship cycle operating conditions, the load power of the hybrid ship under load uncertainty is firstly predicted. Then, considering the economy, emissions and continuous navigation time (endurance) of the hybrid ship, an energy optimization strategy based on the predicted load power is proposed to achieve the goal of minimum fuel consumption, minimum emissions and maximum endurance of ship operation. The experimental results show that, compared with the fuzzy logic rules based strategy, the fuel economy of the ship is increased by 9.6% and the ship’s endurance is increased by 24% for the proposed strategy.

Optimizing the operational performance of green ships can further improve the energy saving and emission reduction effect of ships, and speed optimization is one of the more widely used and effective measures. It is a new challenge for the shipping industry to achieve speed optimization that simultaneously saves energy, reduces emissions and meets transportation requirements, while considering changes in the navigation environment. In this paper, a hybrid electric ship energy efficiency optimization strategy based on working condition prediction is proposed to solve the problem of navigation condition at a future moment, by making a time series prediction of energy efficiency influencing factors, such as wind speed and current speed. Further, on the basis of establishing the sailing speed prediction model and the real-time energy efficiency operation index (EEOI) model, the real-time EEOI deviation and the sailing speed deviation are adopted as the comprehensive objective function to establish a dynamic optimization model of hybrid electric ship energy efficiency, considering the time-varying environmental factors. Then, the fast Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) is applied to solve the bi-objective optimization problem and obtain the optimal ship engine speed in real time. Finally, experimental studies show that the proposed optimization model can improve the energy-saving and emission-reduction effect of the ship under the given speed limit requirements and working environment conditions, which can provide theoretical support for the optimal navigation of hybrid electric ships.

In recent years, with the development of battery technology, hybrid electric ship (HES), as a promising solution to reduce the fuel consumption and emissions, has become a research hotspot. However, frequent use of the battery will accelerate the aging of the battery, and the replacement of scrapped battery will increase the cost of the ship. Therefore, it is necessary to consider delaying battery aging into the energy control strategy of HES. The equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS) is a feasible energy control strategy because it can be implemented in real time. However, under the condition of uncertain initial state of charge (SOC) of the battery, ECMS cannot effectively reduce the fuel consumption unless the equivalent factor (EF) is optimized in real time. In this paper, an adaptive equivalent consumption minimization strategy (A‐ECMS) is proposed, which extracts the global optimal EF trajectory from the dynamic programming (DP) solution and uses the back propagation (BP) neural network to adjust the EF in real time. A trade‐off between the fuel consumption and battery aging is made in the cost function by introducing a weight coefficient. Finally, the effectiveness and the adaptability of the proposed strategy are verified in MATLAB.
