Biography

I am a Clinician Scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute and a practicing primary eye care optometrist at Singapore National Eye Centre. I graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Optometry degree and from the University of Auckland with a Ph.D. For the past nine years, I have been working in the field of age-related eye diseases and have become increasingly interested in the use of advanced imaging techniques for the characterization of pathological changes. I envision that the elderly population with eye diseases requiring monitoring will likely be outpaced. Therefore, there will be an unmet need to develop a novel objective, reproducible, and valid method of assessing biomarkers that can improve the detection and progression of early eye diseases. In that regard, it will help to decide which patients require the closest monitoring and earliest therapeutic intervention. My greatest motivation is to translate my research findings to patient care.
